@ashwilliam replied to your photo “This was Loa’s afternoon I was not so lucky, I had class at 4… I...”
how to you keep her uncaged? I would love to this with my budgies but they are strongly attached to their cage no matter which room
I think it depends on the bird, I know some people who don’t cage their pigeons and other people whose pigeons want to stay in their cage since it’s where their nest is. When I had a budgie and we wanted him to come out and stay out we’d have to hide the cage or he’d stay in it and/or on it and bang his toys from the outside until we put him back. Loa used to spend most of the day in her cage but as she got more confident she wanted to be out and about. For a while it was set up so that she had access to the cage if she wanted but when I was home I had her with me in my room. Then I started letting her stay in my room when I wasn’t there (if I was going to the grocery store or seeing a movie). By the time this school year started she seemed comfortable enough to stay in my room during the day (so her mess only affects me and not my flatmates). Now when she’s in the living room she’ll sometimes choose to spend the day in her cage but usually she doesn’t really want to and will scold us for not letting her out if we’re up and moving. Loa does have to sleep in her cage and while she’s mostly good, sometimes bedtime is a struggle XD
Sorry I can’t offer more help :’)
