Wait im sorry im actually really confused, i saw your ‘intersex is trending, heres some reminders’ post— how is futa a slur? I knew it to be like… a japanese word that describes a character with ‘mixed parts’ essentially. I cant remember the full origins of the word creation but i thought it was on the same lines as fujoshi/fudanshi?
Is it because it’s since been used to describe *real* intersex people, or am i mistaken and it’s always been something coined to refer to altersex characters in an ‘im calling this character intersex because of their mixed parts’ way?
Im sorry if this makes no sense, but i do want to understand so that i can stop using the word to refer to fictional characters if i need to (to be clear, i would never call a real person a futa regardless due to the fetishistic nature of the word, but thats also a whole different issue than what im asking here (i think?))
It's origins is for intersex people with atypical genitalia, and is now being used to describe hentai of characters "with mixed parts", which is an intersexist fetishistic myth about this group. It originated in a context that was derogatory, and now is being used for bigenital porn, which does still have it's real life affects on intersex people.
You know how many intersex people of all ages are sexually assaulted or harasses because they're an "irl f___" (i'm not saying it because i'm not EA)? It's the same as people using "herm" to be their porn term for characters with "both parts", still a slur, still fetishizing the community, and still harms us.
And, no, fujoshi/fudashani is for people who like yaoi. pretty sure fujoshi was originally an insult/something of that realm but it has nothing to do with the Fu slur, and also simply has a different history.
Anyways, it's because a bit of both. Real intersex people have been affected by this regardless. (and even if it was coined in an intersexist way, I would still hate it. Me personally.. intersexism is intersexism)
I'm maintagging this so anon can find it again, and also so people can add on.
TLDR: yes this is a bad word. Just say bigenital, unless you simply mean "tits and penis", which i'm sure you can find porn for anyways.
