Do you think the triplets see Yui as a mother figure?
I can’t really say anything in depth for the triplets as a whole, since my expertise is just mainly Laito. Sure I know things about the other characters, but I have much more knowledge on Laito.
I think maybe not as a mother figure—I wouldn’t really say any familial figure at all. Sometimes they do treat her like a sister either if they actually have like a normal moment with her instead of treating her like food. A lot of the one-sided banter kind of reminds me of sibling banter. But that’s very few and far in between. Which for the most part, Yui is seen as food/a plaything for the boys. I think that Yui has a lot of traditional “motherly” traits, and has a lot of empathy and compassion for the boys despite them treating her so horribly. I think that when the boys are vulnerable with her she does seem more “motherly” with them, but I think that just might be that she can be a traditionally feminine and emotionally mature person, contrasted with them being emotionally immature.
Also, just to clarify—Laito does use Yui/other sacrificial brides as a way to “replace” his mom and replicate his trauma with them but on the perpetrator side—not to “get” a mother figure. I do not think that Laito sees his own mother as a mother figure—he has said it himself that he doesn’t (I think this might have been in Dark Fate? regardless I have a whole analysis on him/Cordelia [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]), and it is pretty obvious when he just refers to her as “that person.” Cordelia kinda destroyed any semblance of familial boundaries and familial relationships when she sexually abused him.
