Ok. Specifically how would the Mallard-McQuack celebrate April Fools Day? Would they pull pranks on each other?

Alright, thank you for specifying. This is a much easier question for me to answer.

Oh, those three?

Ruthlessly. They would celebrate it absolutely ruthlessly.

Mainly Drake and Gosalyn, who I feel antagonize each other on some level every day. It’s what makes them such a great family. They have that father/daughter bond.

….a bond that consists of whoopie cushions, itchy toliet paper, sugar switched with salt, stealing each other’s things….the list goes on!

I feel like Launchpad would start out strong but inevitably end up caught in the middle as the two of them rage prank wars.

I AM trying to brainstorm and work on finishing “Thicker Than Water”. It’s been almost a year and a half since I’ve updated it and I apologize. But for anyone who cares, just know, I’m TRYING! LOL

How would Fenton get along with Daisy?

Good question!

I never got a chance to really explore my own headcannons on this because real life got in the way and my hyperfocus on these fics fizzled out before I could write any of their interactions.

But I imagine them getting in great! Daisy was never in DWD or the 91’ Ducktales (I don’t THINK she was in the original Ducktales, I know Gladstone was…) but we don’t get to see how she’d be in this universe. Also, back when I was writing these fics, 17’ Ducktales wasn’t out yet, so I had little to work with.

I’ll be honest, I don’t know a whole lot about Daisy. She was a character I was planning to do some research on and watch other Disney shows with her in it. (Like House of Mouse and Mickey and Friends).

But I imagined her as having a secretary job, though trying to become a journalist. A lot like how she is in 17’ Ducktales, actually.

But I imagine Fenton and Daisy being good friends! Maybe the type to grab a coffee and catch up once a month or something.

Of course, it drives poor Donald up a wall that Fenton sees Daisy more than he does (her boyfriend!) since he’s out at sea. But that’s Donald’s problem. Lol

I will say that Daisy fully accepts Fenton for crushing on Scrooge. She admits, she doesn’t get it in the slightest, but she’s totally for it. Cause she’s awesome like that!

Do you headcanon that Drake and Donald feel like outsiders in their own families?

Oh, absolutely!

Donald has a bit more obvious reasons than Drake. Firstly, Donald’s speech impediment; his voice. We all know Donald’s voice is unique, but it’s also hard to understand at times, especially whenever he’s angry. Which is often.

It’s one of the reasons I was nervous to write him, because I didn’t know how to go about his voice. I ended up not even giving him any kind of “accent” and didn’t write his dialogue any differently than anyone else’s. I figured the characters around him would point out his speech well enough.

But even outside of the Ducktales fandom, I’ve felt that he definitely feels either ashamed or misunderstood because of his voice. It’s a disability and sadly anyone who has any form of disability can relate to him on some level. Speech is such a vital way of communicating in society, it’s impossible to not believe Donald struggles with it.

Scrooge has shown time and time again that he believes his nephew to be a layabout who finds ways to get money without hard work. Even in ‘17 Ducktales, Huey, Dewey, and Louie make remarks and comments about how clumsy and confusing their uncle can be.

As for Drake, there is less canon to work with, so most of my head canons are purely my own and not based on anything I’ve seen from canon.

I’ve always pictured Drake to be an orphan. The DWD show had a parody episode based off Superman and Darkwing being from another planet. The only thing I took seriously from that episode was that he was an orphan. His parents are not in the picture.

That’s where that head cannon stems from. Unlike Gosalyn, though, he was adopted at a young age. His adoptive parents were caring and kind and gave him enough basics skills and tools to deal with life, but they weren’t very close.

The show also showed him as being a dork all through grade school. Obsessed with comics and superheroes and detective work. He was also shown to be bullied and left out of activities by his peers. Which leads me to believe he didn’t have too many friends.

I do like the idea that Megavolt and Drake were friends in high school. We know it’s canon that they were in the same grade since they went to the same Prom and high school class reunion.

He’s always fended for himself and always had himself to rely on. Once he was old enough, he moved out of his adoptive parent’s house and made it on his own until he came up with his Darkwing persona and met Gosalyn and LP.

He feels less like an outcast now that he has Gosalyn, but yes, he feels that way.

Have Scrooge and Fenton ever struggle with the power dynamic of being a couple while one is the other’s employer?

Good question.

So, before I answer it, friendly reminder that this pairing is from the 1987 Ducktales and not the 2017 Ducktales. Recently I’ve been DMed and there’s been some confusion. Just to clear that up and make sure we’re all on the same page. :)

With that said, in my fics, Fenton is Scrooge’s accountant and I’ve always kind of had a head canon where Fenton does a bit more than just that. He’s kind of Scrooge’s assistant, of sorts, in my stories.

Power struggle? No.

Scrooge is the richest duck in the world and Fenton respects that. He admires it. He adores Scrooge and he tells everyone who will listen how amazing Scrooge is.

While Fenton may get a little ahead of himself at times and may let his ego get out of hand, at the end of the day, he respects Scrooge and he admits that Scrooge is the better businessman out of the two.

If you read my fic “Family Ties” you get a glimpse “day in the life” vibe.

Scrooge is ALL business and Fenton knows that too and he’s okay with it. He knows 99.9% of the time, Scrooge will want to talk about business and ways to save and profit. In the 1987 show, Fenton may not be a scientist, but he’s still smart and is able to keep how with Scrooge’s busy workaholic life.

Then there’s Scrooge. If either of them struggle with the power dynamic, it’s him, but only because he struggles to step away from his work. He’s the one who forgets that Fenton not only works with him, but (eventually) lives with him. He has a tough time separating being the richest duck in the world to being a romantic partner to Fenton.

But overall, no. No real struggle with the dynamic. They both know where they stand. Fenton is very patient with Scrooge whenever he’s caught up in board meetings and appointments. And Scrooge knows to be easy on Fenton, who can be a touch too hyper and chatty after a long day at the office.

Do you have any headcanons for Doofus Drake in DT87? Is it possible he might show up in one of your stories?

Umm, so…I’ll be honest, here.

…….

This is possibly an unpopular opinion…

But Doofus Drake is one of the most annoying characters from the show. Both DT87 and DT17.

I disliked Doofus from the original show and then I saw what they did to him in DT17 and now I’m like…. “Ya know what? The kid isn’t so bad from DT87.”

But no. I can promise you, without a doubt, I will never write Doofus Drake in my works. If anything, he’ll be mentioned, because he IS. Junior Woodchuck and a friend of Huey, Dewey, and Louie….but no.

Sorry if you are disappointed by that answer but I just never found him as a likeable character. I don’t know what it is….I actually think he’s adorable. Cute kid. He just always irritated me. It’s more his personality. In DT87 he had a good heart and was a good person….just his personality I guess.

Maybe he reminded me too much of some of the annoying kids I went to school with or some thing, idk.

Again, sorry if you do like him as a character! I just…don’t. Lol

DrakePad (DW 91’) Question: Has Launchpad ever felt insecure that maybe his relationship with Drake, before and after the romance, is dependent on Drake feeling like he could have someone to have power over?

Hmm….interesting question.

I guess this is also a question about Drake and whether or not he would feel the need to have power over someone.

In the cartoon, Drake actually doesn’t like talking about his relationships, unless he’s boasting about being in one. So, from the cartoon, all we have to work with canonically is his relationship with Morgana McCawber. And I might be a little rusty on the show, but I recall him being very nervous and shy around her during their more intimate moments on dates.

I think it’s because he’s spending time with a person one on one and doesn’t have his flashy Darkwing persona to hide behind.

Drake does not come off to me as someone who needs to have power over someone. Not when he’s dating them anyways. His enemies, for example, are a different story.

I think relationships make him feel vulnerable, a feeling he tries to hide behind his ego.

So, no, I don’t think that would be an issue for Launchpad because LP sees the vulnerable side of Drake just by being his sidekick and living in the same house as him. Launchpad is someone Drake can let his guard down around. They understand each other on a friend level and then later as a couple.

Oh, let's kick this off the right way: 4 and 20?

Hoo, boy! Alright, good questions!

Firstly, for those who don’t know, I pretty much write strictly Darkwing Duck and Ducktales fanfiction these days. So I’m going to be focusing on those fandoms of my works. The rest are too old for me to properly answer questions over.

Question 4: Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like)

A line I’m very proud of? Hmm, well, there are lots of them. I’m gonna give you two, actually. The first one that comes to mind would have to be from my fic “The Golden Heart”. Chapter 12 I have Scrooge McDuck saying this line to Fenton Crackshell.

"Yer as jumpy as a fox in a hen house, Fenton. What's wrong?"

So I chose this one because..... it’s just so Scrooge. He’s always been a tricky character for me to write due to his Scottish accent and older fashioned terminology. Writing his accent is a job in its own, especially in regards to keeping it consistent. And this was just a fun visual line to have him say! You don’t really see much of his accent in this particular line save for the word “Yer” instead of “You’re” l. But, I don’t know. I’m just oddly proud of it.

My second example for this question happens in “Thicker Than Water”, Chapter 13. This is a crossover fic so Darkwing Duck characters are also in this. The exchange between the two of them is something I’m quite proud of.

This is more than a line, it’s an argument between Darkwing and Scrooge.

Darkwing turned back to his employer and grumbled, "I'm only on their payroll when they have assignments for me to do which they have not HAD for quite some time! I'm only paid for missions! I can't even remember the last time they assigned me a said mission!"

"Can’t imagine why” drawled Scrooge in sarcasm.

So, I chose this because it’s the very definition of the relationship these two have. They are constantly rattling the other’s chains. Always at each other’s throats. So this little exchange just embodies all of that. In my opinion.

Question 20: Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)

Hmmm....oh, wow. There’s so much I could answer with in this one. What I would REALLY love to ramble about for my current work “Thicker Than Water”, I can’t say due to spoilers. But I will say, I am a HUGE fan of foreshadowing. I love it so SO MUCH! There are so many examples....so many instances where I use foreshadowing in my work, I couldn’t even come close to naming them all. And the spoiler I can’t say... is gonna be one of those big foreshadowing moments. I’m very excited about it!

One of those, “did you have that planned the whole time?!” moments. The answer is yes. Yes, I did.

Something I CAN talk about, would have to be the shipping I have in “Thicker Than Water”. I could talk about ships all day! One of the pairings is one of the most popular in the fandom. Darkwing/Launchpad.

The other is a crack pairing. Fenton/Scrooge. I mean, the fact that it’s a crack pairing says it all. I find that anytime a crack pairing is taken seriously in a story, you’re in for a fun time. It’s fun to watch this strange pairing oddly work. Lol
