Its here! This is my first time doing an animatic / music video / using really any video editing software so it looks scuffed but I like how it ended up for a first time!
This one features technobald because his hair was getting in the way of the lyrics so I snatched that shit away. I think you can kinda see the point where I worked out what I wanted to do.
Anyway for any tag browsers this is based on my fic Ask For Nothing and all the context you need is that Technos getting yoinked by vampire Phil.
Below the cut is more rambles + the vague storyboard I made
I'll be real I just went into this one with a 'I wanna make anything' mindset so its not the best but I still like how it turned out
Hopefully you can kinda see the colour language I wanted to use? Starting dark and then brightening up around the middle before going back dark again.
Did the same thing with the lyrics, they start changing along with certain hallmarks that happen in the story like Technos nosebleed, the Mystery Meat etc.
Also spot Phils evil little hands popping in during still like "what do I need" and "I was born something" before going into "what could I be" where you can see his fangs next to his tusks :)
Anyway I gotta post this and close tumblr before I decide I hate this and that it should never see the light of day again. I spent like barely 4 hours on this ofc its not gonna look amazing silly brain.
view monster, specifically Ask For Nothing, is a lot of madness and eccentricity, sure, but also even more whimsical nostalgia. Dinosaurchestra may be known as the big childhood nostalgia album, but god the childlike wonder and the strangeness and apparent mystery of the world and the sadness that comes from knowing childhood will one day be gone, along with everything else, and the happiness, maybe madness, that comes from choosing to enjoy life. despite of or maybe because of all that.
Since I posted a doodle of him I might as well post this here too I guess
Take a full body pic of the boy that took maybe an hour? Idk just dont look at the shading. This is what I've been using as a reference for him in Arc 1 to keep everything consistent.
I really like how asymmetrical he is at points, usually all my stuff has tonnes of symmetry but his design is a nice change from that.
Fun fact: I do all my art in greyscale before actually adding the colours I think its super cool to watch. It helps me with contrast :-) Might change his shirt colour though I dont like how it looks next to the skin.
