8x01 My Turn

I’m mostly a quiet watcher/fan/shipper/reblogger and am generally not keen on detailed discussion about my fandoms.  This next sentence sums me up.

If I’m here at all then I’m a FAN.  If I’m a FAN then ... I LOVE IT.

If I don’t like the storytelling then I run away.

So yes, I loved 8x01.

I was frustrated by the Sam/Dany/Jon situation but actually ‘enjoyed’ it in an angsty/storytelling sort of way.  I know why they’re doing it and I know it’s not really going to be a big deal in the end.

I loved the Jon/Arya reunion and shrugged off the family stuff ‘cause I understand why it’s being pitched that way. The Jon/Bran reunion was nicer than I’d thought and the Theon/Yara was unexpectedly far more emotional than I’d ever anticipated.

I LOVED the Jonerys stuff because I’m a huge SHIPPER and I’m hungry for anything we get given. Honestly I wasn’t even expecting that much, especially during episode 1.  Dragon riding and sexy/romantic kisses and so many smiles and Heart!Eyes.

Did I mention the DRAGON RIDING.  Oh, I was in all Seven Heavens for that scene.

I just wanted to put all of this out there whilst I’m in the mood.  I don’t dislike Sansa - I understand her pov.  Hell, I understand everyone’s pov - even Sam’s - although I’m fully expecting him to get a dressing down from Gilly soon.  I write fic, so I know what motivates these characters and I understand that writers need to both show all the povs and create tension in order to hook our audience. Personally I avoid too much tension in my own writing and can happily acknowledge that that might even be a weakness.  I really admire those who can write serious angst and drama.  

I’m a storyteller who supports storytellers.  I support D&D as good television adaptors who know how to condense a sprawling story and have it come to a prompt conclusion. I do like ASOIAF but, as someone who often finds reading difficult, the later parts of the saga were a challenge for me. I prefer it when a story is more condensed.

So yes, I’m mostly a writer, artist and gif reblogger but I’ll answer if anyone does want to ask my opinion on stuff, seeing as my writing and art has hit a bit of a wall recently

10 facts for the garbage elf!!!!

Yaaas Thaeldred. I love Thaeldred so much even though he’s garbage.

1. In order to become garbage, Thaeldred has had an incredibly shitty life up till now. His father wasn’t just garbage in the endearing ‘aww how flawed’ kind of way. He sucked. A lot. Thaeldred and his mother ended up living with his Aunt and Uncle when he was about 12.

2. He loves his momma.

3. His father’s side of the family is genetically predisposed to addiction, and he struggles a lot with alcohol. Don’t even think about bringing up the time before the Sunwell got fixed. That was a bad time.

4. He earned a fair bit of money fighting in brawls. (This of course all dried up when he started coming to fights drunk, but that’s another story.)

5. He went to train at the temple of Niuzao after the majority of the mantid threat had been eliminated. He learned a lot there, though he still came home and basically entered a spiral of self destruction :D

6. He’s getting better, slowly. He’s only got up to go from here, honestly.

7. Thaeldred is a genuinely big-hearted person. He’s rough, abrasive, swears a lot and has a short temper, but his ability to care is immense. He’d willingly take a blade for someone he loved.

8. He’d probably survive said blade because he’s one stubborn motherfucker.

9.He’s demisexual, and while he’s usually only into women for romantic relationships, he has a -very- specific type when it comes to men.(He likes the pretty ones.) He’s not actually that into doing the do much. He gets nervous.

10. He can say the equivalent of ‘fuck’ in all the different horde languages, common, and strangely, draconic. (Or not so strangely, he knows people.)

23, 24, and 25 for year end asks

23: fics you wanted to write but didn’t: I knew I only had time for one short fic for the Valentine Challenge and was tossing up between ‘Masquerade Ball’ or ‘Arranged/fake Marriage’. I had a clear one-shot idea for both but ended up writing ‘Charade’ for the challenge itself. Have spent the rest of this year thinking about possibly expanding my short idea for the Ball into a multi-chapter (WT: The Masks We Wear) and have already written a couple of scenes but am still trying to work out where to go with it.  Hoping it might be my next project after ‘The Prince Next Door’. 

24: favorite fic you read this year: This one is so difficult because (a) It hard for me to remember specific names/titles and (b) there are just so many good ones out there with so many different genres. I’ll go with ‘Eye of the Storm’ by @kiyasama because it showed me what could really be done with modern AU.

25: a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read: So many. I just can’t chose 1 and feel guilty for even singling out these.  ‘Eye’ is complete which I always thing is a great thing but I also get exceptionally excited whenever ‘The Pirate Queen’ by @meisiesmut or ‘Thumbprint Scar’ by @frostbitepandaaaaa update. If you want more of my favs just let me know.

Tell me ten things about Hottie McSpaceman😊

Ahhhh I HAD THIS ONE ALL TYPED UP AT WORK BUT TUNGLE MOBILE IS HELL

1. His name is Nadir! And his numerical designation is 002

2. He’s a highly sophisticated android, so much so that he doesn’t really consider himself not human most of the time.

3. That being said, he’s still definitely an android. He has organic components, skin, hair and a few organs mostly for things like eating and breathing so he can talk with actual vocal chords instead of generated sound. But he’s also about 50 lbs heavier than a normal human with his height and build, and his skeleton is made out of an incredibly durable alloy.

4. He really loves cats.

5. His hair doesn’t actually stand up all the time like it does in almost every single drawing of him I’ve done ever. It’s that zero gravity aesthetic.

6. His features are designed to make him look like the offspring of the woman who founded the Institute that created him. So for all purposes he is of Korean descent.

7. He’s one of 3 androids that were created, he has an older brother Zenith, and a younger sister Horizon. He’s got that middle child syndrome very hard.

8. Nadir is a bit of a renegade. He didn’t remain with the institute like his sister, but he also chose to flee from the Allied Human forces that his brother was so fond of. He spends most of his time exploring space, and searching out different kinds of alien artificial intelligence,to see how different (or alike) they are.

9. He’s really short. He’s only 5′4″

10. He’s a giant softie, cries a lot, laughs a lot, and is really not straight.

I love the first chapter for your new story!! Which part in Here Be Dragons did you first have the thought to create this new fic? Excited for next week's chapter! I have my notifications ready!!

Thanks for the ask. :) I seem to remember the idea first flitting into my head on the day I came up with the name ‘Magical Menagerie’ back in November before I even started to publish HBD.  Of course, I just laughed it off back then but, every time I edited those chapters that referred to the show, I kept adding bits of backstory in my head and the idea kept growing. 

My first actual notes about ‘Warg Riders’ appear mid December after chapter 2 was published and I was working on chapter 8. I think it was only at that point I felt I could start thinking about it seriously because both ‘Here Be Dragons’ and ‘Silent Declarations’ were so close to the end.
