#ask nasya

I don’t know how this will go or if anyone will even ask anything, but I thought this could be a fun thing to do, especially now that I’m on a break from school!

Nasya is my girl and I really want to develop her some more, so I thought having asks could be a fun way to do that! I’m also not limiting it to just Nasya, you can ask my other OCs questions (I’m going to list all the people she knows below the cut) though I have some OCs that aren’t associated with her that I would be fine with answering stuff about as well (mainly Rizco and Alekev, but maybe Aina too)

I will try to draw a picture in reply (if I do, it will most likely be teen Nasya, unless the question is better suited to her when she was younger or if you specify), but it may end up just being a little blurb from the character (though it it possible I might write a short fic, depending on the character) and if I get a lot I may have to close asks but...I have a feeling that won’t happen xD

“Well, I live on Corellia, and it’s a great place for mechanics, but I would like to explore more. I haven’t gone to many places aside from Atollon. That being said, I don’t really have too many places in mind. I’d like to just see a wide variety of places, and maybe I will when I’m older. Going on a ‘soul searching’ trip does seem like a tradition in my family, though I’m not sure how Dad would feel about that. If I did, Coruscant would be neat, it’s such an intriguing world - a little intimidating, but I’m sure I’d learn a lot there. I’ve also never been to Mandalore, though I should since I do have Mandalorian blood in me. But if I did I’d probably want to go with Aunt Sabine and Mira, because I don’t know the customs as well as I should.”

Yay! Another ask Nasya! These are honestly a lot of fun and they usually don’t take too long and that’s super nice too :D anyone can still ask her questions too...

Soo, @reddustgypsy wanted to know the full story behind why Nasya didn’t train to be a Jedi, so here it goes! (It kind of changed a little from before...well mainly that it was going to be that she just didn’t want to be defined by being a Jedi, which is partly true still...but there is more to it...) Also, I never know how to draw myself, I didn’t even look at a picture of myself while drawing this pfft xD And I’m glad you love her eyebrows, they are fun to draw ;p

Okay, so, yes, one of the factors behind Nasya not training is the fact that she is weak in the Force. Even when she was little, she could see how much easier (or how much better) Dawn, Caleb, and even Mira were than her. They learned so quickly, and she knew she wouldn’t be able to catch up to them, no matter how hard she tried. If she trained as a Jedi she would always be comparing herself to them and she would always fall short. 

However, another factor is that she overheard conversations and stories about how her dad used to hate the Jedi for taking kids from their families. Of course, this is no longer the case, but in her mind, Nasya worried that if she trained as a Jedi, her dad might look at her differently or silently wish she hadn’t. When she was older however, she ended up telling her dad, because as she grew up there were times she wondered if she should’ve trained as a Jedi (she sat in some sessions with Dawn and Mira from time to time and usually enjoyed it), and he reassured her that would never be the case. But by that point it was too late, at least in her mind. 

Some people started training later, like Ezra, but they were strong in the Force. For someone like her, it wasn’t really possible anymore. She would never be a Jedi like her cousins, she would always be second best, like in most things she did, so she sticks with machines because that’s the only thing she is good at…she’s got some self-confidence issues…*pats her head*

“Well, while I am Force sensitive, I’m pretty weak with the Force and I chose not to train as a jedi. And since I’m not a jedi I don’t really have a need for a kyper crystal or lightsaber, so I don’t have either. And if I ever do need one for some reason I have plenty of family members I can borrow one from. Besides, I have Kyber, and to me he’s so much better than any crystal!”

She loves her little cat! And there is some more reasoning behind not training as a Jedi...but *whispers* it’s a secret...though not really, like if someone asked I’d probably answer it xD

“Yeah, like you said, the Rebellion is a dangerous place. I don’t really go on missions very much, unless I get dragged along with Mira and Dawn. But despite that, I have gotten a few scrapes here and there - though most of them are just from working with machines. But there was that time when I almost died...that was really hard on Dad...and me, but I could tell is scared him more than he would like to admit. I’m better now though, after a lot of rest and rehab I don’t really feel it anymore, aside from the scars - which are always covered up thankfully.”

I’m so mean to my characters ehehe...*flops* I actually wrote a fic about the incident...or at least a little bit of it, I’m still not 100% sure about some parts. You can read it here.

“I didn’t for a long time. Growing up, I really only had family pets. Ammo was pretty much my Dad’s, but he loved everyone. It hit us all when he passed away. Before he did though, he brought us Skipper, who absolutely adores Jalen. I swear that wolf is the most hyper wolf ever. It’s a good thing I was older when we got him otherwise he probably would’ve hurt me, though he still knocks me over sometimes. And then there was Freckles, but I didn’t see much of her because she hated everyone but Rura. Needless to say I was kind of glad when Ru got married and took that crazy cat with her. 

Then a year ago I was working in the garage and I heard something and stumbled upon the smallest Tooka I’ve ever seen. He looked half starved and scared to death, and of course I couldn’t just leave him there! So I cleaned him up and fed him and after a few days he started perking up and from then on he pretty much started following me around everywhere. Interestingly enough, his favorite place was the garage - at least when I was there - and he started sleeping in my lap or on the shelves while I worked. He even started climbing on my shoulders to watch. I thought this might be a problem when he grew up, because I thought for sure he was a kitten, but aside from getting to a healthy weight, he didn’t grow much at all. However, don’t let that fool you, he can be one intimidating little cat. One time I thought I was alone and my parents forget to let me know some friends were coming over...needless to say Kyber can be terrifying when he wants to be. If he feels threatened or thinks I’m in danger he will chase the threat while hissing and screeching like crazy. Because of this, he has established himself as the ruler of the house, poor Skipper is so timid around Kyber, which is hilarious because Skip is like four times bigger than Kyber.”

That was a lot of text...I am so sorry...Also I totally didn’t make Kyber until today...originally Nasya didn’t have a pet, but I loved him too much I had to make him real (and I think he is partly inspired by Homer from “Homer’s Odyssey” and “Homer: The Ninth Life of the Blind Wonder Cat”, both of which I highly recommend). Also, he’s named Kyber because so many people in Nasya’s family have kyber crystals and she thought it would be kind of fun to say that she had her own...in a sense at least haha xD

“It’s good. In all honestly, I’m not the best with kids, especially babies, I always feel like I’m going to hurt them. But I still like hanging out with them. Kotep can be really silly when she wants to, and it’s always fun to hear stories from her about Dad when he was younger. And I’m sure I’ll love hanging out with Thae when she gets older.”

So...I didn’t know which characters the anon was referencing, but technically Thae is the only youngest cousin of Nasya (Dawn and Caleb are older, and Mira is technically her second cousin), so I went with her. Also...Nasya is me, I don’t dislike babies and small kids but I don’t know what to do around them and I’m scared I’m going to like hurt them...xD
