Hi! I'm new rivetra shipper on tumblr.I just dont understand about rivetra haters saying that petra is 19 and she's "too young to marry" to levi.🙃what????I mean isnt 18 years old and above is legal to marry and can be called man/woman.Their age gap wasnt that big(unlike ereri😝).

or is it just my country?I dont know what other countries stated what age to be legal to marry.🤷‍♀️

First of all, hi! Welcome to the family. I hope you'll enjoy yourself here.

Fair warning that this is an opinion-based answer, I'm no history expert nor am I a sociopolitical one.

I guess from some point of views it might be weird for a "19" year-old to marry someone in their early thirties, but tbh from a historical one it's actually not that bad ahah! It depends of the viewers' perspective I would say. The time-line of SNK is kind of weird so it's hard to situate the events on a realistic scale imo. Also, I don't think she was 19; just because Eren and the others enrolled at 12-13 doesn't mean Petra and Oruo weren't older when they got in the military.

A quick search on the matter from my end revealed that "marriageable age" varies from 16 to 22, depending of the country, the region (and other derived country separation), and the sex of the person. Plus, religions can even have their say in it. However, we have absolutely no information whatsoever on the topic for Paradis and that's the beauty of it: being able to shape the story and to share point of views with other fans. Yet it seems respectful exchanges were forgotten along the way...

So yeah, some people may believe she's too young if they assume she's 19 based on their beliefs and upbringing, and it's ok! As long as people share their opinion with others in a respectful manner. From my standpoint, the maple leaf country sets the legal age to 18 or 19 depending of the province or territory, so it's not that bad. It's a perspective matter in the end, yet some seem to forget that...

Misinterpreted information and misinformation also play a key role in the whole matter, but that's hardly something one may control...
