that empires food worldbuilding post had me thinking about hermitcraft cooking practices
specifically, while actively working on stuff the hermits tend to just have work-snacks that are easy for them to get in bulk, but when just living their life they have a more varied diet. depending on the hermit this may still be super plain, and it does tend to be heavy on ingredients they have some form of automated farm for since it's pretty much just the hermits there, but they're not living entirely on golden carrots or gigapies or steak.
grian does however know so many ways to put golden carrots in dishes. so many.
Oooo love this, I love imagining different ways to add more life and realism to the world and stuff, these are some cool ideas.
I love to think the Hermits have their own dishes and stuff they cook regularly as well, perhaps they share them at the occasional group dinner or something. Some of them can cook… some can’t.
- Scar makes all sorts of magical treats he picks up from his exploration of different magic cultures. He can bake stuff like elven cookies and pastries, plenty of fae dishes and the occasional vex treat. You don’t want to know what’s in those ones though.
- Cleo makes dishes for the undead - some questionable sounding ingredients but they apparently taste pretty good to anyone slightly less than alive.
- Some the Hermits make dishes related to their home worlds or countries.
- Joe makes a darn good sweet berry wine, a recipe he perfected a few seasons ago.
- Pearl makes lots of soup, though it’s hit and miss whether it’s going to be the best soup you’ve ever tasted or straight up poison.
