In some way, you could almost think of it as creepypasta’s older sibling. Instead of bonfire-style scary stories, all of these SCPs are contained within this one setting, a Men-In-Black sort of secret organization that keeps the world safe from them.

It’s equal parts fandom and creepypasta, to put it simply.

There are a variety of SCPs and almost all of them are user-created (though they do have to be beta’d and approved to fit the style and theme of the overall foundation, so to speak). Some of them are creepy, some are funny, and some are downright nightmare fuel–the most interesting thing is that the SCP Foundation website is delivered in a way that makes it seem realistic, and immerses people into the validity of these captured entities c:

The SCP Foundation is a collaborative writing website that describes the exploits of the SCP (Special Containment Procedures, though it also refers to the slogan of “Secure, Contain, Protect”) Foundation, a fictional organization responsible for containing entities, locations, and objects that violate natural law (referred to as SCPs). The majority of the written works on the SCP Foundation website consist of “special containment procedures”, each of which purports to be the containment process for a specific SCP. The website also contains several hundred “Foundation Tales”, which are short stories set within the universe of the SCP Foundation.
