A portrait of my first proper OC Skyrocket. Skyrocket has probably gone through the most changes of my OC’s. I wanted her to look unique from the rest and to be honest her first design looked good, but it was a bit too hard to draw and it didn’t fit to “the name of Skyrocket”. Before giving a name I wanted to make her a pegasus, since I really liked that race (Mostly because of Rainbow Dash). Fun fact: I didn’t come up with the name Skyrocket. I am TERRIBLE at naming stuff, so I asked one forum to name her and one of the suggestions was Skyrocket. One of the things that I feared with the name was that it felt like that it implied that she was going to be super fast flyer (Even faster than Rainbow Dash) and I didn’t want that. When I started ANSWERSKYROCKET I stated first that she lived in Cloudsdale, and then there flooded questions, like “Let’s race”. I never really replied to those questions and I only mentioned in the blog info that Skyrocket didn’t like to compete. Much later when I tried to reboot my blog, I swapped Skyrockets living location to fictitious place called Endoras Peak to prevent breaking any canon related stuff! 

While I enjoyed a lot of ANSWERSKYROCKET blog, my main issue with her was that I never planed any personalities for her so I had to answer on the fly. The blog was at first really generic. Skyrocket felt like an experiment rather then a fully developed character. Later she did get some personalities that were recognizable. Her job is guardmare, but isn’t quite like royal guard (An other reason to move her to an other location, since the original series didn’t have such things) and mostly of that she became a bit more tougher and independent. 

Even though I have concentrated more on Sweep Slick, I didn’t want to ditch Skyrocket completely. I had over +3300 followers on it and I have about +800 followers on Sweep Slick and it doesn’t matter where I post an update they get the exact same amount of notes. I like Skyrocket a lot, but I’m the cause of her failure and hopefully she’ll do better in the Sweep Slick universe.

Neon Glow. There was point in my life where I couldn’t update my blog so efficiently for a longer time and I wanted to draw one last drawing and that’s when I created Neon Glow. It turned out to be pretty popular at that time. Like Skyrocket, Neon went multiple style changes before looking like this. I even planed to make a blog based from her, but decided to continue with the Ask Skyrocket blog. I added Neon Glow to the same universe tough. Her coat was brown before and the blue parts of her hair came under the hair instead on top of it. Also their shorter now. I changed the coat color, because there seemed to be a lot of brown colored OC’s already and I planed an other OC before called Dawnlight Echo that was supposed to be Neon Glows friend and she was also brown. I try to plan my OC’s in a way that they are distinguishable from others. 

Neon Glow is kind, but shy in a way. Her hobby is music.

Ink Spark. Talking about changing styles all the time, Ink Spark went through a whole overhaul. Her name was before Tribalrocket and was supposed to be a cousin for Skyrocket. They were supposed to compete each other in race who was faster, but I scraped that idea really quickly and forgotten it. The first coloring of Ink Spark looked like a palm tree:

I later changed her hair color to orange and later changed the color pallet completely. What I really hadn’t seen before in other people OC’s that they really don’t have any tattoos. Ink was rather special as she has a lot of tattoo on her and her hair style was rather different as well. Ink’s personality was something that I thought about a lot. She hasn’t appeared too much in either of my blogs (Ask Skyrocket and Ask Sweep Slick), but I decided that she is an really enthusiastic tattoo artist and wants the world to see what “living art” is. She is an optimistic person and doesn’t really care about the consequences that follows after. 

I like Ink Spark, but she might not be the most popular among my OC’s.

((What started as Tribalrocket, turned to be as Ink Spark. She might not be my most likable OC, but in design she is. I wanted to draw her again and while not much has been changed, I decided to change the hue of the fur since looking at the gray color it seemed pretty dull and considering how many gray OC’s were already out there, so I changed it. Also I moved the earrings to the right spot. The one above was done in 2013.))
