why the h*rm tag on the recent post... :/
because it's for a person i know irl who self-identifies as a herm, not a trans woman or intersex, and that's how shi prefers hir character to be labeled

You should not be saying herm if you are not intersex for any reason. No exceptions, no "but it makes sense here for this species!" It's a slur. It has always been a slur. You are not as educated on intersex issues as you think. Ffs
I literally did not say any of that. I refer to people with the pronouns and labels that they prefer. I do not ask intrusive questions to make sure they're "qualified" to use said pronouns and labels, because that is none of my business and a dangerous slope. If that doesn't work for you, block the tag and move on cuz you're not gonna change my mind. Especially not like this
Intersex doesn't mean what you think it means.
Yall gotta stop yelling at me for tags that my clients REQUESTED I use for characters that belong to them and not me
*Oinks in your general direction* (this is a gesture of appreciation)
[cautiously, with a boar spear in hand] thank you
bites you :3
6 and 10 please!

10. What's the one thing that inspired you to make drawing your consistent hobby?
Nothing. There was no inspiration. I started drawing when I was old enough to hold a crayon and never stopped, because I can't stop. It's just intrinsic to who I am
But I know that's an unsatisfying answer, and also art is my career rather than a hobby, so for a slightly less unsatisfying but still kind of anti-climactic answer: I became a professional artist because I wasn't "good enough" (read: I wasn't interested enough to put in the effort to get good) at anything else. I actually wanted to go into zoology, but after doing 4 years of marine bio and absolutely hating all the aspects of it that had nothing to do with animal science, I decided I never wanted to do math or chemistry ever again. And then I was a teenager with undiagnosed depression and anxiety and ADHD and autism and the very concept of a muggle job was fucking terrifying to me. So I stayed home and let people pay me to draw their dog people getting frisky instead lol
what is you favourite colour? What is your favourite colour to work with in a painting? What is a colour that you can never seem to get right in a painting? What's your favourite place that you've been to?
ooooh these are interesting!
My favorite color is the shade of pink that's on Vice and all my branding lol. Runners up include baby pink, black, neon green, and electric blue
Digitally I like using really saturated red. There's a particular range of red hues and values that I call Horny Red. When I break out the watercolors, my favorite is probably Hooker's green or Payne's grey
I dunno about a single color, but I struggle with green-red complimentary color schemes. It's so hard to keep it from looking like Christmas while also making sure the red is saturated enough to look like red
My favorite place I've been to....the Mayan ruins at Tulúm. Most incredible post card views, beautiful beach, iguanas everywhere, and seeing hundreds or thousands of years old human handprints on a stone wall is one of the most profound experiences i've ever had
24 and 25 for the ask meme? 👀
24. How do you deal with art block?
Either take a break or try something new. Sometimes if art just isn't cooperating no matter what, I take a day or a week off and do something else. If it's more persistent than that, sometimes I just have to change it up. Try a new subject matter, revisit a medium or program I haven't used in a while, do some experimental styles, etc. Mental health issues mean it doesn't always work, but it has a better success rate than most other things I've tried.
Tangentially related: If I really, really don't want to draw but I know I have things I need to work on, I commit to spending x amount (small, usually ~5 min) of time on that thing. If after that 5 min I'm still really not feeling it, I can put it down to do something else and come back to it later. A lot of the time it's just starting that's the hard part, and by the time I'm 5 min in, I can kind of trick myself into going "okay well I'm here now, let me just go until I do this part" or whatever
25. Based on your recent reference searches, what would the FBI assume about you?
That I'm a very horny cis gay male zoologist
