“ is everything alright? ”
“‘ is everything alright ? ‘ mischa mocked cruelly, badly imitating his american accent with narrowed eyes. “ i don’t know JACE, does it look like everything is alright?” a dark, dry laugh left her lips dripping with sarcasm and vodka.
“i can’t believe . . . i can’t believe i WAITED for you. even before i met candy, i had men, women, children of powerful families, throwing themselves at my feet, begging me to choose them and i still waited by the phone like stupid idiot school girl for my mysterious bad idea prince charming to text me back and drive off into sunset with me in some little fancy car he stole.”
mischa brought the bottle to her lips and had a little too much, coughing, sputtering wiping her mouth on the back of her hand, lipstick smudged.
“ --- Блядь, i answered every SPAM LIKELY call just in case it was you. i checked news every night for car crashes. i even made fucking bracelet out of fucking wire you left in fucking j a c k e t you lent me. god, i’m such an IDIOT ! ” mischa put her head in her hands, willing herself not to cry. NO. she would not be the sad drunk girl at the party who cries over a boy. she blinked back tears and attempted to compose herself.
“i jussss ... “ she slurred, waving the bottle around as she talked. “ i thought it all meant something. like you were playing a game, leaving me clues. our own little heist.” she admitted, anger, sadness, embarrassment clouding her voice. “oh, he left cigarettes, he left sunglasses, he will stay this time, THIS TIME he will stay, i know it . . .and every time i woke up alone.” mischa’s voice cracked and it was the saddest sound in the world.
drink.
slam.
“so i gave up. i was tired of waiting for someone who would never come. i was tried of crying -- of wondering what was wrong with me. why i wasn’t good enough. why wasn’t a good enough reason to stay? i was tired of sleeping alone and now . . . now i never have to again.” a single tear rolled down her cheek. “you see, you are too late, comrade. i have girlfriend now who i like very much. i never have to wait for her and she always tells me that i’m good enough. always.”
mischa’s phone beeped.
speak of the devil.
“i have to go, candy is waiting for me outside.
good bye, jace. ”
