Raghan, if you could compare Daxten to something, what would it be?
“Are there specific categories for this or… Well, no matter. I actually know the answer to that. I think I’ve mentioned it before even.”
There’s a small pause to build up tension while he finds a seat. He knows this could take a while considering everything he has to say about Daxten. Either way, all Ray can hope is that his words are not taken the wrong way, it happens far too often.
“Daxten is very much like a black hole. And no, not in the sense you are probably thinking… But yes at the same time. Do you know about black holes? They’re these massive gravitational forces that draw everything in. In that very sense, Dax is a black hole. He draws people in without even noticing. There’s something about his darkness, his brooding nature, his harsh words; it makes you want to see more, to know more. Before you know it, you’ve been sucked so deep you can never truly shake him.
Daxten is, at the same time, damaging. He crushes everything not strong enough to survive the pressure the black hole puts on everything that comes too close. It’s an intrinsec part of his nature whether he is aware of it or not, and that only makes it more magnificent because it means you have to be on certain level just to aspire to be near him unscathed.
Lastly, and foremost, Dax is like a black hole because I don’t understand him. Frankly, we know very little of black holes. How they come to be and how then can be undone. What drives them, what’s on the other side… They are a mystery to us, a challenge. Don’t you like a good challenge?”
