sometimes when a follower sends me a compliment and i answer them privately, they get all defensive.

it's like if I don't respond by sobbing or keysmashing or throwing myself off a cliff or confining myself to the closet they feel like they don't get the response they deserve and act like mad or like taking back the compliment, like they handed me candy and i slapped their hand and i was being ungrateful and mean

but seriously i don't feel like doing that all the time especially when the compliment sounds forced or like they're kissing up or when what they said was generally not really that flattering

so like, not all my followers mean nice when they say nice things and i can feel that through their words

i should have just deleted them phony-sounding compliments, at least i wouldn't get mean responses and end up feeling like shit

I really love this fandom! I see no problem with it actually. There IS the sourcing thing but that's pretty much the most of it and it's something that can be fixed?
