" Where's Nick?" Ash asked, looking down the line of hostages. Her eyes slipped over each one person down the line, the panic evident there. He had to be okay - it was the one thing they'd promised each other.
But the situation had gone FUBAR, and now she had lost track of him.
" Carlos-" she started, leaning forward to see the Spaniard. But before she could say anything, Ash was grabbed by her hair and dragged forward. " Ah!"
" Rebecca!" Carver yelled, letting go when Ash was far enough from the group. " Come out. You know I can give our baby a better life within the community."
Ash raised her head, glancing down the line but not seeing Nick.
" If you don't come out, I'm going to-"
" Oh stop the fucking monologuing." Ash groaned, pushing herself to her knees. " No one wants to hear it."
His eyes narrowed, staring down at her for a moment. Then grabbed her hand, and snapped two fingers without a flicker of emotion crossing his face.
A gasp fell from her lips, but Ash grit her teeth through the pain. Tears sprang to her eyes, and she glared defiantly up at him.
" That was for speaking out of turn. But it'll get a whole lot worse for Ashlyn here if you don't come out." Carver said, gripping her hand harder. Her free hand came up to grip her wrist and let out a long hiss of pain.
" Stop!" Carlos yelled, glancing out of the windows. But the concern in his eyes was evident. " someone fucking shoot him. Just fucking shoot him!"
" That's enough!" A voice shouted, and Ash saw the smile pull at his lips before he let her go. She gave a little gasp, cradling her hand before pushing herself backwards and ended up next to Carlos.
She looked at the doctor, cradling her hand against her chest. " where's Nick?" She asked, looking at him. " Carlos- what- what happened-"
That was when the shooting started, and everything moved very fast. Walt was dead. Alvin was dead. It wasn't until they were thrown into the van that he was finally able to tell her everything he'd seen happen with Nick.
He also saw the light leave her eyes, and she almost seemed to deflate. Only for a moment, though, her eyes filled with anger, and she turned just enough in her seat to punch the van wall a couple of times. The result was the van coming to a stop, throwing her to the floor. " Fuck!"
Ash sat up, wincing a bit at a new twinge in her back as she looked towards the truck's rear door. It was only a moment before it rolled up, and Carver appeared. His arms were crossed, and his eyes dark at the sight of her sitting there.
" Ah. I see you've decided to join us in the land of the living, Ash." He smirked, as Troy started to climb up.
" Fuck you, Carver." She spat out, glaring back.
" Still got that fire in you. That's good to see." He said, the smile never reaching his eyes. " Though I do have to ask that you refrain from putting anymore dents in my truck. I'm sure Matthew would prefer to see you back in one piece, rather than having a few more injuries than expected. Especially after your interruption at the lodge."
Her eyes went wide, and her head snapped up to Carver. He hadn't reached the meeting spot, like Danny. But she never believed that he was dead, and this proved it. " What the fuck did you do to Matty?"
" Nothing a few days couldn't fix. Honestly, he was very compliant once we had our little chat." Carver gave her a cruel smile. " Now.... shut up and be a good girl for once if you want to see him again."
She paled, her eyes wide- heart clenching as the door was pulled shut and that fucking smile was plastered to her mind.
Carver climbed back into the truck, smirking as he watched Troy get into the other one. He glanced over at Danny in the driver's seat. " Well, that was a productive chat. Hopefully, they'll be a bit more quiet from here on out. I'd much rather have an uneventful trip home." He tapped the dashboard before glancing at him. " What about you, Danny? Aren't you happy to have them back?"
