so then he leans in again, and you still don’t kiss him back.
and he just freezes.

after that he’d start rambling in real time because your silence makes him nervous. he’d keep talking while following you around the apartment trying to figure out what changed.
“did i suddenly get ugly? be honest.”
“is this payback for something?”
“wow. this is kinda humbling, i can't lie...”
he’d start acting extra affectionate too (martin aegyo supremacy💗💗), throwing himself against you dramatically and trying to make you crack a smile. but underneath all the joking you could tell he was actually checking if you were upset with him for real.
the SECOND you admit it’s a prank, he’d just stare at you in disbelief before laughing.
“i don't think you're allowed to just... do that.”

i feel like james would probably have the saddest reaction out of all of them honestly...
the first time you avoided his kiss, he’d pull back slowly and immediately start wondering if something was wrong. not in an insecure way, just genuinely concerned.
“oh… okay.”
and after that he’d stop trying.
that’s what makes it worse— he wouldn’t be dramatic or complain about it. he’d still stay close to you all day, still hold your hand, still rest his chin on your shoulder while talking to you, but he’d stop leaning in for kisses completely because he’d assume you didn’t want them.
after a while he’d quietly ask something like, “did i make you uncomfortable earlier?” and suddenly the prank feels stupid and you don’t really want to keep it going because he looks genuinely worried about upsetting you.
when you finally admit you were joking, the relief on his face would be immediate.
then he’d just look at you for a second before going, “that was actually kind of mean,” while laughing a little under his breath.

like every time you smiled at him he’d look at you suspiciously, because clearly you were plotting something. he’d keep casually bringing it up too.
“crazy how i got rejected earlier.”
“interesting behavior from you today.”
and because he’s petty, the second you finally ask him for a kiss later he’d pause on purpose just to annoy you back.
“hmm. i don’t know…”
the thing is, he wouldn’t even last two seconds before laughing and kissing you anyway because he’s incapable of fully committing to the revenge.

he wouldn’t joke about it either. he’d pause for a second before asking softly, “are you upset with me?”
and when you brushed it off without actually kissing him afterward, he’d stop trying completely. not because he was angry, but because he genuinely wouldn’t want to make you uncomfortable if something was wrong.
instead he’d just get quieter.
he’d still stay close to you the entire time though. standing beside you in the kitchen, sitting shoulder to shoulder with you on the couch, absentmindedly touching your arm whenever he walked past. it would honestly become obvious pretty quickly that he was overthinking.
eventually he’d mumble something like, “you’ve been avoiding my kisses all day,” in the most quietly pouty tone ever, and suddenly the prank wouldn’t feel funny anymore because now you feel bad.

the first time you turned your head away, keonho just blinked and laughed a little like it was an accident. the second time though? immediate confusion. his hands stayed on your waist while he stared at you for a second trying to figure out what was happening.
“wait… what was that?”
after that he got ridiculously clingy. like genuinely attached to your side for the rest of the day. he’d keep touching you constantly, like he was trying to make sure you weren’t actually upset with him. he'd randomly lean in for tiny kisses every now and then just to test if you were still doing it, and every single rejection made him more sulky.
“you’ve denied me kisses four times today,” he complained, flopping halfway onto you while you sat on the couch. “and yes, i am counting. i'll remember this, yn.”
but the thing is, even while whining about it, he’d still keep touching you constantly. arm around your shoulders, head on your lap, fingers hooked into your hoodie sleeve. he’d act offended, but you could tell he mostly just wanted confirmation you still liked him.
