Do the kingdoms have drug problems?

Some areas are definitely plagued by drug abuse issues. I would say Zareen Empire has the worst drug problems of all the Great Kingdoms, followed by the Unseelie Court, and Yerim-Mor Kingdom.

While some Great Kingdoms have worse drug problems than others overall, each kingdom is struggling with addiction issues in some way. Evangeline Kingdom has the fewest illegal drug offenses, yet large chunks of its population suffer from alcoholism. Folkvar, too, has a lot of alcoholism and issues with joy juice.

Pinback extract is a scourge among Matuzu Kingdom's impoverished gorgon populations. Meanwhile Matuzu's roshava are grappling with yappo and its byproducts.

Pyre dust plagues the lower sectors of the Damijana Empire. Both greenbrite and greenlite continue to be issues throughout the Aquarian Alliance, mostly affecting mermaids. Joy juice has become a problem in Mogdir Kingdom and Etios Nation, particularly among satyrs. Etios is also fighting a war against yappo, pink sugar, and even zyrup which is smuggled across its border from Matuzu.

The streets of the Unseelie Court are infested with every drug you can imagine, but blue-eye shrooms seem to be causing the most chaos.

The same is true for Zareen Empire. You can find basically any drug here, but zyrup is the drug that's crippling entire neighborhoods and spreading like cancer. It's so bad that heavily-armed task forces are now patrolling the streets just to clean up the messes this specific drug causes.

There used to be a huge drug trade in Burmek Commonwealth back when it was a functional kingdom. But now its supply lines are really unreliable, so most Burmish addicts have turned to domestic highs like sketchy moonshine and huffing petrol fumes.

Lamai Nation has a lot of drugs available and likewise, a ton of drug users in its population. However, its culture facilitates this drug use in the name of religion. It isn't criminalized the way it is in most other kingdoms, so it isn't really considered a "problem" in this region. That said, there are still many older Lamaish citizens who are suffering serious health problems from their past drug abuse, which is causing a whole other set of problems for this kingdom.

can nymphs smoke weed and feel its effects?!?!?!?

Now that's a good question! I think most nymphs could. Maenads can get drunk, so I don't see why they wouldn't be able to get high.

The exceptions would be limniads, sylphs, and dryads because they're really flammable and smoking would harm them, but edibles might do the job. Pyriads probably couldn't get high via smoking or edibles because everything they consume just burns. BUT I could imagine them getting high on certain chemical injectables like zyrup.

I know every blue-eye mushroom has a random effect but does each mushroom have only one effect? If someone takes a little nibble and it turns out to be a helpful effect can they save the rest for later or share it with others?

Great question! I think once the blue-eye's cap is damaged, its power becomes deactivated as it dissipates into the air. The mushroom must be eaten whole to obtain its effects.

The Seelie and Unseelie Courts have task forces that destroy these mushrooms wherever they are found growing, in order to protect their people. They do this by burning or shredding them, as these processes will always damage their caps. Simply plucking the mushrooms by the stem doesn't deactivate them.

Can you talk more about the Matuzu gorgon addicts please? (Gorgons are my favorite LG race!)

Sure! Matuzu Kingdom has dense pockets of gorgon populations scattered mostly around its Midland Jungle region, especially on the western coast. Gorgons are discriminated against quite a bit worldwide, and while Matuzan culture is more tolerant than most, gorgons still face issues with bigotry here.

This has led to impoverished communities of gorgons in this kingdom, with many turning to crime to survive.

There is a thriving illegal drug trade between Lamai Nation and Matuzu Kingdom. The most popular drug coming out of Lamai is pinback extract, but there are plenty of other drugs too.

Many Matuzans blame gorgons for this crime issue because gorgon immigrants are the ones who originally brought these drugs from their homeland. These drugs are produced in Lamai, get trafficked across the sea, and end up in Matuzan gorgon communities before getting dispersed around the kingdom by gorgon traffickers from these communities.

For this reason, Matuzans stereotype gorgons as drug dealers and addicts. Of course not every gorgon fits this stereotype, but it is a real problem in this region.

What would happen if the FGG was on LSD? What would they be seeing and what are they like while high?

Interesting question! There is no LSD on Looming Gaia, but there is a drug with similar effects called gold dust which causes hallucinations. I think what they experience depends on where they are when they get high, but for the sake of this scenario, we'll say they're snorting gold dust in the forest around Drifter's Hollow.

Evan: Sees endless, spiraling fractals made of snapping wolf jaws. Feels equal parts nervous and excited. Gnaws a tree branch down to a twig, believing it's a bone.

Lukas: The plants and trees around him come to life and start attacking him, the sky itself is screaming obscenities at him, the dirt starts churning and swallows him whole. Just has the worst trip ever.

Glenvar: An orca whale made of stars swims down from the sky with a school of starry fishes and thousands of other animals. Glenvar's having a chill time hanging out with his gods.

Alaine: Basically goes to mermaid Hell. Gets attacked by heavy rains, crashing waves, squeezing tentacles, and shark-like monsters.

Jeimos: Decides to cast a teleportation spell while high as balls. Ends up in The Machine for a while before somehow managing to teleport themself back to Gaia. Believes the whole otherworldly experience was just a hallucination.

Isaac: The forest around him is consumed in pink sunset hues. The leaves become peacock feathers. There is beautiful music being carried on the wind and all is peaceful...but only for a moment, then everything goes to shit when a violent storm blows through, stripping the trees and raining blood from the sky. The music becomes a cacophony of grinding metal sounds and screams.

Linde: The forest becomes crystallized like ice, and Linde's reflection looks back at her from all the little facets. She is surrounded by millions of instances of her own face.

Balthazaar: He panics as his body starts melting into goo. He watches himself ooze down the river and actually wakes up on the shore of Drifter's Lake somehow.

Skel: Gnarled faces appear on the tree trunks and laugh maniacally at him. No matter where he runs, there is only more laughing forest ahead.

Javaan: He sees a sexy dryad beckoning him. Wakes up 12 hours later with his dick stuck in a rotten log.

Elska: She keeps spotting creatures in the corner of her eye, but whenever she faces them, they just hide again. She can never get a good look at them, but she knows they are there, stalking her. She goes on a rampage, pulling down trees and ripping the forest apart trying to find them.

Mr. Ocean: He finds himself standing on a beach at night, looking out to sea. A colossal kraken rises from the waves before him. Glowing green mushrooms are sprouting from its skin, the suckers on its tentacles made of mushroom caps as it envelopes Mr. Ocean and drags him into the sea. When the high wears off, he finds himself laying on the dock at Drifter's Lake, tangled in some fishing line.

Zeffer: The moon turns blood-red and explodes into thousands of bats. The bats swarm Zeffer, screeching and biting him, then suddenly he is one of them, sucking the blood out of his old elven body until it shrivels up and turns to dust.

What would happen if the FGG ate some literal magic mushrooms? Let’s say our crew is eating a mushroom bowl for dinner, however somehow Blue-eye shrooms got added to the dish. What kinda magic fuckery would they each experience?

This is a fun prompt, but I think I have to leave it up to your imagination because blue-eye shrooms cause a random magical effect to whoever eats them. The same person will not get the same effect each time, it will always be different each time they eat one.

I can totally imagine Glenvar eating one of these things, hoping it'll make him taller. But he just gets one that shrinks him to the size of a mouse.

Mr. Ocean eats one and it doesn't even do anything because his drug tolerance is through the roof.

When monsters eat these shrooms, it turns them to dust and kills them. Isaac could be considered at least a partial monster, so he eats one and just vomits dust for hours. Almost dies. Vows to never try drugs again.

That's all I can really think of at the moment. In reality, any one of them could get any magical effect you could think of.

How did Mr. Ocean create greenlite exactly? How did he turn a normal aquatic fungus into a parasitic fungus?

That's a good question. We know that Sovereign used a combination of plant splicing, selective breeding, and botanical magic to create greenbrite, so I imagine Mr. Ocean used similar methods to create greenlite.

Problem is, Mr. Ocean isn't very good at these things, so he didn't get the results he wanted. He and Sovereign are both powerful sorcerers, but they specialize in completely different schools of magic.

Botanical magic was never Mr. Ocean's specialty. He just can't wrap his mind around it like Sovereign can. He was trying to recreate greenbrite, but the best he could do was the shitty knockoff version that we know as greenlite.

I just read the page about drugs and I have a question. It says heavy weights take zyrup but what happens when someone like an elf takes it?

All species get the same effects from zyrup (pure euphoria followed by a psychotic rage). However, this drug is more popular with heavyweight species like centaurs and ogres because frankly, the midweight and lightweight peoples who use it die from overdose a lot more.

So the thing about zyrup is, it's extremely potent. Like, a little goes a very long way. This is why heavyweights use it in the first place, because a centaur may have to drink 20x more alcohol than a human to get drunk, but it only takes one syringe of zyrup to achieve euphoria. It's a comparatively cheap way for heavyweights to get high and forget their problems.

However, that potency is a double-edged sword. If a human injects as much as a centaur, they'll just die immediately. Finding the right dose for your weight isn't an exact science, especially with so much impure product out there, so now you have a situation where shaky junkies are guesstimating how much to take and they often guess wrong.

Heavyweight addicts can shake off an overdose a lot easier, so their rate of survival is higher. Elf + zyrup addiction gets very dangerous very quickly.
