Truth or Dare: Into the Basement!

The thunder sounded in the not-too-far-off distance and dark clouds loomed ominously over the keep. Sand glanced up and frowned - he had been smelling bad weather coming... and this sounded like it would be especially fearsome.

"Did anyone else hear that?" he asked the others in the main part of the Keep.

7. What is the best compliment you have ever received?

Nathyrra raises an eyebrow, amused by the question. "In my experience, compliments invariably come with a knife in the back. I'd almost prefer to be insulted," she shrugs. "At least then I know it's honest."

34. When are you vulnerable?

"When am I not?" she smiles wanly. "To start with, I'm a stranger in a strange land -- one that's less treacherous, perhaps, than the Underdark -- but no less dangerous for a lone drow."

"Of course, few things are as intimate as the inside of your own head, and fewer things leave you quite as vulnerable as having someone... intrude there." She pauses, recalling her experience with the Elder Brain -- the masterful illusions it created to trap and enslave the young drow and her companions -- and cringes at the memories that surface. "This is... seldom a positive thing."

44. What was your most memorable dream?

...dark, winding hallways, awash in the blood of some fourscore drow - priestesses, warriors, and wizards. The odor is offensive; charred flesh and the sweet-sour scent of poison fill the air. She tells herself the smoke is responsible for the stinging in her eyes--

"It's a recurring dream. A nightmare. I'd... rather not speak of it." The drow averts her eyes.

I prefer honesty; it's a luxury I couldn't afford at the Academy.

Gann Arrives

Safiya regarded the circle in the basement thoughtfully. It would be no mean feat, to link it to Nefris's portal all the way back in Rashemen, so she'd asked Sand to stand ready to give her a hand. Another wizard wasn't enough for decent circle magic, but it would help. She'd asked Kistrel if he minded her borrowing some of her workspace, explained to several people what exactly she was going to do and why - so all that was left was to do it, allowing Gann to cross half of Toril in one step.
