Thanks so much for the questions, and I seriously apologize for my delay in answering! Answers for Tobias/Casey, Ethan/Kaycee, Trystan/Carolina, and Eli/Zoe are below! ❤️

How would they handle a breakup?

Tobias/Casey: They'd handle it terribly. They had one breakup shortly after they started dating for the first time. They were not together long at the time, and it was difficult. But if they were to break up after they genuinely fell in love, or worse, after they were married, it would have been excruciatingly painful. It would take a very long time for them to get over it or move on. I think if it was before they had children, Tobias would probably sign off on love and probably go back to his previous ways. Casey would want to move on, but it would take time, and I don't think she'd find that kind of love again.

Ethan/Kaycee: A breakup would be heartbreaking for them, as well, particularly for Ethan, since he didn't believe in love prior. If they were to break up, chances are, he'd give up on the concept altogether. Kaycee would likely need to get away. I don't see her staying in Boston; she'd need to go elsewhere and start over.

Trystan/Carolina: They are the newest couple of mine, so time-wise, it would be the least impactful of my OTPs. That said, their bond is very, very deep. If it was an amicable breakup, these two are the type that would be able to deescalate to becoming friends, though it would be difficult and take time. It might be very hard for them so see them with other people, however. If it was a bad break up, it would be difficult. Trystan would probably take it harder than Carolina, but Carolina would try to hide how much it really hurt.

Eli/Zoe: I think they're more likely to be eaten by zombies than break up. lol. Their world is so different than ours, and that would impact their reaction. If it was amicable, like "we're better off as friends", I think they'd both adjust pretty easily and end up being good friends. However, if it was a bad breakup - a betrayal, or where one was feeling it and the other is not, it would be more painful. However, if both stayed on at Olympus, they'd put that aside most of the time, because it would be necessary for survival

How would they react to someone flirting with them?

Tobias: This is probably a daily occurrence for him. lol The man is a natural flirter, and he doesn't even know he's doing it. It's just who he is. So unless it was something really overt that crossed major lines, he probably wouldn't even notice. lol Casey: Casey may not be as much of a flirt as her husband (I mean, most mere mortals aren't), but she is quite a flirt herself. She'd probably flirt back if it was mild, but if it was really too much, she'd put them in their place.

Ethan: He'd respond with sarcasm if he responded at all. lol Kaycee: She'd respond similarly to Casey but a little more mildly.

Trystan: Please see Tobias's answer. lol. Seriously - see Tobias's answer; it would be exactly the same. Carolina: When she was not attached, she would only flirt back if she was really interested - or could gain something (say, evidence lol) from it. But, if she wasn't interested (99% of the time), she'd probably stare blankly and then move on with her day. lol

Eli: It would take him a while to catch on to it unless it was very in-your-face, and then, most of the time, he'd by his typical stoic, sarcastic, even cold self. Even in canon, it took him a while to warm up to MC and flirt back when s/he was flirting away. Zoe: In my world, Zoe and Troy are BFFs for a reason, they're both fun and voracious flirts. Once she's with Eli, she has no real interest in flirting, so if someone flirts with her, she's probably not going to care too much, but she might do it back for fun.

If they have a significant other or crush, how would they react to someone flirting with that person?

Tobias: So, if it was mild, like some cute guy or girl is flirting with Casey, he'd probably eat it up. He'd be all, "That's right! She's hot. Shoot your shot, but you've got no chance, buddy! She's mine!" But if they overstepped, she rebuffed and then continued. Good luck to them. Casey: She's very similar to Tobias in how she'd respond, though if you get her on a bad day, she's going to get a little more pissy. She wouldn't be "jealous" because she trusts him, but she'd be happy to put them in their place. lol

Ethan: If it was mild, Ethan would probably sit back and stoically watch, thinking, "asshole." (<- Sorry, Tumblr won't let me fix it lol) He'd know they're about to get shut down, and it would be fun to watch. lol But he wouldn't appreciate it if someone went overboard with it. Kaycee: Since Casey & Kaycee are really almost the same at their core, my answer is typically "Like Casey, but more mild." Here is one place where I would say, "Like Casey, but more extreme." lol She would laugh off someone mildly flirting with Ethan, probably tease him mercilessly about it. But if they crossed a line? Good luck flirter. lol

Trystan: He'd probably flirt with Carolina concurrently with the flirter. Then, he'd probably flirt with the flirter, too. lol Carolina: She'd find it amusing. Probably want to sit back and watch it with popcorn. But, if it went too far, Trystan would end up getting all nervous and look to Carolina for a save. She'd smirk and be all, "You're on your own kid." lol

Eli: The person would likely get that death glare and be told, "Keep walking." He trusts Zoe, but he probably wouldn't be amused. Zoe: She'd probably find it amusing because watching this unfold could be amusing. Like a post-apocalyptic version of Carolina's response, only instead of watching her partner dig himself into a hole, she'd be watching her partner becoming more and more frazeld. lol

OK, I kind of want to make all those flirtation ones into mini-fics! I might just do that!

14. If you were stuck on a desert island with only two characters, which would you pick?

My first pick is Moana- since she knows how to sail, and presumably by the end of the movie, roughly how to build an outrigger canoe. My second pick is Alan Parish from Jumanji. He survived two decades alone in the Jumanji wilds. I think he could handle keeping us alive until Moana could get us off the island.

18. What is a line/scene you’re really proud of? Give us the DVD commentary for that scene.

I'm really proud of a scene I wrote in my one-shot Letters. This is a fairly big chunk of scene, so I'm going to give my commentary first. One of my favorite things to write for Katara is her choosing herself over Aang. I wrote this with Legend of Korra still really heavy on my mind. I imagined Katara somehow getting a glimpse of what her life with Aang would be and making a different choice.

This piece was for Zutara week '18, but this story doesn't really have that much to do with Zutara. This was all about Katara finally stopping to consider what she wanted. There's a splash of Zutara if you're looking for it, but I wanted to practice writing from Katara's perspective, and I wanted to give her the opportunity to focus on herself and what she wanted to accomplish for once. I also really love a good dramatic break up scene, and I think I got there with this. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

"You're just getting back?" Katara asked. The silence was too heavy.

"A few minutes ago," Aang told her. "I'm sorry I was gone so long." Katara shrugged.

"Don't worry about it." Katara took a healthy gulp from her glass and took a deep breath. "So, listen…I've thought it over. I'm going to take Pakku's offer." Aang gasped.

"Shouldn't we talk about this?"

"We did talk about it," Katara reminded him. "You told me exactly how you feel. I still think I need to go. Aang, I don't think you realize how…useless I've felt lately."

"Useless?" Aang gaped. "You're not useless! I need you with me." Katara shook her head.

"No, you don't. You don't need me, and you've made that perfectly clear."

"What are you talking about?" Aang leapt up from his seat. He went over to Katara and grasped her hands in his. "What did I do? Tell me what I did wrong so I can fix it!"

Katara gently pulled her hands from Aang, avoiding his pleading eyes. She took a deep, shuddering breath.

"Aang, you don't get it," she began. "You're the Avatar. Everyone wants to speak to you. Everyone wants your opinion. Everyone wants a piece of you." Aang's face contorted in incomprehension.

"That's not my fault-"

"I know it's not. It's not your fault that the whole world wants you," Katara said. "Of course, they want your opinion over mine- I expect that. But lately you don't want my opinion either. You don't talk to me about treaties and reconstruction. You used to, but not anymore. I can deal with the rest of the world seeing me as just your girlfriend, but I can't take that from you."

"Katara…I didn't mean to…you have to understand I…I'm just trying to do my best to keep the balance…"Katara held a hand up to stop him.

"It's okay," she told him. "This is your destiny. I'm not upset about it. I'm proud of you, honestly. But…this is not my destiny."

"It could be," Aang insisted. "I can do better!" Katara shook her head, but Aang pressed. "I can! I'll let you make all the decisions from now on. I'll make sure that everyone speaks to you first."

"I don't want you to do that," Katara said. "You are the Avatar. You have a duty to the world. I don't want to stand in your way. I wanted to be your partner, but…Aang let's be honest. We haven't had a real partnership in a long…long time." Aang hung his head. He was reeling.

"I thought we were fine," he whispered. Katara's chest tightened. The guilt was almost overwhelming, but she couldn't change her mind.

"I'm sorry," she said. Aang took her hand and pressed something small and hard into her palm. Katara opened her hand to see what he had given her. It was a betrothal necklace. The small, white pendant on a navy blue velvet choker.

"Please, don't go," Aang pleaded. Katara felt as if the bit of wine had gone to her head. Suddenly the night was stifling. She got up and went to the balcony rail.

"Are you asking me to marry you so I won't leave?" Katara asked. She looked down at the carved ivory disk in her hand. It was as heavy as a millstone, and strangely warm. Katara closed her fingers around the necklace and leaned against the balcony rail. Her gaze landed on the flower bed where she had gone to after their argument the day before. She shut her eyes tightly and took a deep breath.

Her life with Aang flashed before her like a dream. It would be more of her following him around the world, smiling benevolently as world leaders clamored for the Avatar's attention. They'd have children and Aang would spend so much time teaching them about the Air Nomads that they'd forget they were half Water Tribe, too. And Katara would have to let it happen, or be the cause of strife in their marriage. She'd have to let Aang be Aang and she…she would have to be content to stand in the shadows. Master Katara would die and the Avatar's Dutiful Wife would take her place.

Katara straightened her shoulders and turned back to Aang.

I know you're a baseball fan but are any of your characters?

Hey There Nonny!

Yes, to varying degrees they all are. The Red Sox are practically a religion in Boston, so in OH land it plays in. Ethan grew up in New England (always reminds me of “I’m mean because I grew up in New England … but I digress lol). Anyway… so that makes him a Sox fan. I HC that Tobias is an even bigger fan, even has season tickets. And, given that I am a diehard Yankee fan, you have no idea how much it kills me to make them Red Sox fans, but I need to be true to the story. Lol

Casey is more of a fan than Kaycee. T/C follow the season, know the stats, go to Fenway frequently. Ethan and Kaycee are more casual observers. Based on growing ip in Philly, Casey was prob a Phillies fan (this also causes me great pain), but she kind of switched allegiances when she settled in Boston.

Fortunately, in my CoP HC, my MC, Carolina, is born and bred and in the Bronx and a HUGE Yankee fan. Phew. At last. I don’t think Trystan was a fan, but he will have no choice but to become one of he is with Carolina… and if he dared to root for anyone but the Yanks she’d cut him loose. 😂

In WTD, there is no more Major League Baseball, sadly. But in A Mother’s Journal I mentioned that Eli played little league as a child, and maybe they start a tiny league at Olympus. While the rest of the gang has no historical connection to the game, I think they’re going to love playing together.

Thanks so much for this ask! A little backstory...

When I was a kid, we used to have little "mailboxes" in our classroom, and kids could leave each other Christmas/holiday cards that would be given out on the last day of school before break. My Mom always insisted I send one to every child in my class because she said no one should feel left out. Honestly, the right thing to do, and I did that with my own daughter later on in life.

Unfortunately, not every parent felt that way, and when I was little other kids would be going home with 30 cards, and I'd be going home with 10. To make matters worse, some of the kids with 30 would be flaunting it for all to see. It felt terrible. As I got older, I made more friends, and eventually, I was going home with a stack of cards too. But, I always hid them so no one would know how many I had because I didn't want the kids who got less to feel bad.

In the end, getting 30 cards wasn't even important. It was always the 1 or 2 from my closest friends or 1 or 2 from a new kid in school who was grateful for me befriending them that meant the most. It's never about a popularity contest; it's about the connection.

I'm a lot older now, but I still follow this train of thought. I value every MC, and OC is the fandom. Even the ones I may not relate to as much because I know that others do, and that's wonderful! Everyone should feel that sense of belonging. I don't like making a top 10 because it would inevitably leave people out, and that doesn't mean their MCs/OCs aren't deserving at all. I want everyone to feel appreciated.

So, what I'd like to do is give a huge shout-out to all the creators in the fandom and thank them for bringing their visions to life for all of us to enjoy. Each is special, each is valued, and I'm glad all of them are here.

I couldn’t agree more! I was actually delighted when her name came up, because she has done SO MUCH to keep the fandom alive. In fact (and she will be mad at me for saying this), if not for her, I think our tiny OH fandom would be all but non-existent.

What was Ethan’s reaction to the very first spicy/suggestive picture he received from your MC? Was it early in their relationship or did it take them time? What picture was? Do you think he used to receive pictures like that from previous partners? I mean he “hates texting” but…

OK so admission… when I read this initially I thought it said for Ethan and Tobias, but I was wrong. Nevertheless, I did a text for Tobias/Casey, so I am including it. lol That’s going up momentarily, Ethan and Kaycee’s will be later today.

For Ethan and Kaycee: The first time was accidentally when they weren’t really together in book 2 and she was MORTIFIED. Luckily it wasn’t TOO racy. Ethan wanted to delete right away, wanted to, but couldn’t do it. He’d peek at it every so often and feel guilty after. But not so guilty that he didn’t do it again. lol

She didn’t do it again until after they were officially together, which was after the attack. But she was coping with a lot then and it wasn’t something she had on her mind, so I’d say it was a couple of months after that. His reaction will be in the text. I would say he was pleased. 😏 By that point they were in live and committed (even if not fully public) so it wasn’t an uncomfortable situation.

Do I think he got them in the past? I don’t see it being something Harper would do. He also dated a nurse, Erin, for a brief time. She may have sent somewhat spicy photos, I don’t think it was anything too wild. Other people he dated were not serious and, if he got them, I think it would have made him uncomfortable. I think it’s something he’d view as OK within a relationship, but not outside of one.

Now (not that you asked, but I am answering lol) in Tobias/Caseyland:

During their first dating go-round (more context in text fic), at most she would have sent “cutesy” photos, bit nothing seriously naughty. But after a break up, a truce, developing a deep friendship/bond, falling in live and FINALLY getting together, she sent them after being together (officially) for 2-weeks. It’s Tobias, he was thrilled. 😂 😂

Did he get them from others in the past? Oh, hell yeah. Imagine he had quite a cache (and he deleted it after he fell in love with Casey, even before they were together.) i am sure he got them from most people he had arrangements with, and from the occasional hook up, and from women he was texting, etc. he didn’t have the same inhibitions about this as Ethan did.
