[memories] "Let's hear a yarn about what inspired you to teach."
"W-well, as you may or may not know, long, long ago I apprenticed under a Robert Cotterill. He was a remarkable man and really intelligent beyond his time. He was the first to question whether or not there truly was an omnipotent deity and although a William Cunnington is noted as being the 'father' of archaeology, I must politely agree to disagree."
He gives an awkward grin and adjusts his glasses, "I-I seem to be drifting from the story, b-but Professor Cotterill was a marvelous, marvelous man. A touch eccentric, yes, but a brilliant man. Since my father couldn't properly afford to send me to a university, he and Cotterill agreed to let me apprentice under him. Granted, my father wanted me to be a saddler since the Gossamer name was quite well-known for saddles b-but my uh..my intense..dislike of horses and my general lack of strength put quite a damper on that. When I apprenticed under Cotterill he taught me to think beyond what the little town of Edale had instilled in me. We explored Scotland, ventured to Stonehenge, saw the pyramids of Egypt, and explored the markets of Morocco. It was quite the learning experience for a country boy like me and I must admit I gave my professor quite the headache!"
"As the years went by and I began to go from my teenage years into manhood, it was then that I was to decide whether to go to the university or give my family business one last chance. Um..w-we all know what ultimately happened," he said, discreetly tugging at his collar, "b-but my professor ultimately led me down the path to be a teacher myself and I quite enjoy it."
