A strange sort of happiness was always associated with his hobby of taxidermy. As Norman sat in the back room of the office, surrounded by the products of a near obsession, he continued to work at breathing a new life in the dead animal. Stuffing it with sawdust, with regrets, with spite, and finally preserving it so its glassy eyes could watch him on the countless miserable nights he spent in the office. 

However, his bliss was fleeting as he heard the knock on the office door. A disappointed frown and a dejected sigh were his way of accepting the little intrusion on his fake little world.

Putting on a fake smile, Norman stepped out into the office to greet the new customer. 

"It's pretty late. Do you need a room?"
