Hello Mrs. Serket! I’m in a bit of a pinch, and I need some help! This July I have a convention, and I’m cosplaying as Vriska because my eye doctor is having me do patching to try helping my vision improve, but how would that work given Vriska has glasses? I have rectangular glasses, but the patch has to be physically on my skin, and since I’ll be relying on 6-8% of my vision, it doesn’t matter much if I’m wearing my glasses or not, so should I make some simple wire frame glasses with no lenses, cover one side, and hope you can’t see the patch through them?
GOODNESS GRACIOUS I do hope that your vision get's 8etter dear!!!!!!!!
Please everyone, always remem8er that medical necessities trump the desires of cosplay. If wearing a certain cosplay element puts your medical needs in danger or goes against the advise of your doctor, DO NOT DO IT.
That 8eing stated, there are defin8ly many things you can do! Whether you decide to cr8 or find glasses to try and hide the patch completely, or wear none at all, you should 8e fine. Also remem8er that there are many ways to play a character. Perhaps you add a little 8lue 8lood and 8ecome post eight-8all explosion Vriska? Or perhaps you are a8le to color your patch to make it look like a pirate-patch on purpose and you 8ecome a flarping style Vriska? As long as your glasses, cover or coloring does not actually interfere with the medical operation of your patch. Ask your doctor on your next visit if it is ok to change the color of your patch or apply a light pressure to it.
I'm not a medical professional, and I am unfamiliar with the exact process of patching, so only your doctor can advise on what is safe or not to do concerning your patch. Good luck.
