Typically I see it like adoptables. The first time I draw them, I plan to credit the original designer, but after than I don’t worry anymore

Yeah like I planned on accepting it as originally not my own work in terms of design but like later on just not worry and use it. I just don't want to be accidently stealing something that I innocently assumed fair use of. I'd rather be safe than hurting that artist or getting a hoard of angry spammers screaming art theft at me. (even though that has not happened, I would rather prevent it in the first place.)
