Hi, why don't you post more on this blog?

TL;DR: I moved on.

I took a break from posting on this blog because a lot was going on at the time, both in fandom and just in my everyday life. There was so much drama that it actually cut into my sleep and study time, and that was bad for me in the throes of college when my health was already pretty poor. And I’m bad at admitting when there’s a problem, so I told myself the break will only be a week or two.

In the interim of the break, I found a lot of things that I became more interested in (TAZ, The Prenumbra Podcast, the Magnus Archives. Basically a lot of podcasts. But mostly TAZ.) And what I thought was going to be a short rest became an unofficial hiatus. And I look now and realize I haven’t posted any related art on this blog in a year, so it’s fair to say that it’s definitely something for the long term.

I didn’t stop drawing, as my other blogs and social media have shown. But nothing comes to me when I sit down and try to draw anything related to Undertale, Deltarune, and the like. And I’m not going to force myself to draw when I don’t have inspiration.

I’m not going to delete this blog, if that is a concern. It’s three years of me learning how to be an art blogger, and contributing to fandom. And for that I am grateful. I’ll reblog other people’s posts for now. And if there is something I do want to draw, I’ll post it.

I love the way you draw curly hair, or any kind of hair, please teach me how you do it (sorry for my english, it's not my first language)

I’m not that great at tutorials but here’s a quick guideline for curly hair. It’s important to educate yourself about the different textures and types of curly hair. There are waves, ringlets, coils, and locks. And they’re all great! But they all behave differently depending on environment.

I’m going to use ringlets as an example since those are some of the kind I see people tend to struggle with. I start with the bare head with a clear definition of the hairline. Then I decide what point I want the hair to sprout out of on the head (indicated by the arrow). I draw simple soft, sort of rectangle shapes to indicate the clumps of hair and what directions they fall in.

Then I draw curved lines from the the top point of each sections and try to wrap them around. It helps to think of each section like a cylinder.

Then I draw circles at the end of the sections (and think about it like a cylinder.) Usually at this point I’ll leave that for the sketch layer and redraw it on the line art layer, while carefully drawing double lines for each section so it looks like there are slight spaces between them. I’ll draw a little connected curl at the end so that it looks decent. Finally I just go nuts and draw random curly lines because hair should be fun and sometimes chaotic.
