it was the late joseon era and korea was peaceful, thankfully. jaewon was tired of all the wars that he had to witness for many decades and long last, there is some sort of tranquillity and resemblance of normalcy. every morning, there was a certain routine jaewon goes through whenever he gets up. he’d freshen up and have a warm cup of tea before anything else. there were no maids, butlers or slaves that served him under his roof as the demon lived alone. slightly isolated from the prosperous village that was considered the heartland of the country. but still close enough for him to observe the humans and buy any necessities in the markets.
with no human presence in his home, there were other forms of help going around his house. devils that he created to bring him his meals, prepare the bath and generally keeping this home clean and functioning. these devils would disguise themselves as humans whenever they set foot outside the manor and knowing full well to not get any unwanted attention or they would face the fury of jaewon.
the demon hears the knock on his door to notify him that his breakfast was ready which was professionally served to him in his bedroom. jaewon looks out his window, seeing the human village come to life as everyone started their day. the sight of it all reminded him of a playful woman but jaewon doesn’t ponder on the thought further. though his gut feeling was telling him that something was coming his way. the question, what was it?
