There is a kitten on a window sill who is crying, it seems to be alone since a nieghbor told me that the kitten has been there for about five days. And people have knocked on the door of the apartment and nobody answers. I call the ASPCA who direct me to 311. I called 311 who directed me to the Humane Animal Care and Control, they tell me that since the kitten is owned by someone they cannot go into the apartment, I explained to them that nobody seems to be in the apartment there for it must be a case of abandonment. The representative then says they do not pick up stray cats.
...really? So since it has shelter even though it is by itself and probably out of food since it is crying on a window sill it is an owned animal, but if it is out of shelter it becomes a “stray” and they do not pick up strays either. I was in disbelief, the Humane Society I thought would take care of animals in need but they have loop holes apperently that they need to abide by that causes them to halt in thier operations. Today I realized that animals are truely helpless, The population of stray animal is outstanding, Which is why the Humane society has it hands cut out for them. which is way my anger has subsided a tad bit. Tomorrow I will go and see if I can find the super of the building and see if he is there.
I gues what I am trying to express is that please treat your animals right. Please understand that once you take an animal into your custody it will be yours. Do not dump them whereever you feel like becuase you dont them to live in a “cage” Animals suffer regardless, thier family has just abdonded them and are sorrounded by people they have never seen before. Please take into consideration thier feelings, try to leave it with a family member or a friend. Please.
I do apologize for such a sloppy post.
