karin was seven when she saw her parents die. she didn’t know what type of stuff they were into but she had later found out that they were working for some sketchy people in high places who had called for their assassination due to the fact that they were trying to blackmail the leader into giving them more money.
the person who killed her parents saw her and left her, without a word spoken and to this day she wouldn’t be able to tell you for sure what he had looked like.
luckily, an assassin had found her - going by the name orochimaru, and took her in, trained her amongst others to one day over-throw the government. she didn’t care for it but she respected them as they were strong and at the time was her protection against the others. they taught her a lot, but she studied and taught herself a lot as well. there had been a riot - and she , careful as can be, snuck out. later she had heard that they had passed -- but she isn’t sure on those rumors. they had always been unnaturally slippery.
she’s ran across a few other’s - having teamed up with a few at certain times, but she always preferred to work alone. it was less messy. less get your heart involved. less dangerous. no one would have a weakness to hold against her if she didn’t allow those near her.
she was often contracted out under the name of meiyo. none of her contacts know her real name and she wants to keep it that way. it doesn’t mean that someone can’t find out if they look careful enough at her past.
she’s well-rounded in all aspects of kill, but she prefers poisons as there is less of a trace to get back to her.
she’s traveled a lot, working for different sides - and sometimes, both sides at once. it’s all about hunting down the person who killed her family for her - loyalty to the client is next-to-none. not that they would know of course. she plays the part of innocent bystander perfectly well.
she’s a master at disguises, none truly know what she looks like.
a master manipulator -- which she has to be to get in to certain areas.
she keeps a mental list of all of her kills, deciding that it’s better that way or someone could trace the list back to her.
the au starts with her at age 22, having been killing people since she was 8. that’s 14 years of kills. that’s a lot of death’s she won’t mention unless she has too.
