Quickie: Cults in GTA V
1. Epsilon Program (parody of Scientology and the Raëlian movement both of whom believe human suffering is caused by aliens and the only way to get help is by giving these cults money and doing what they say)
2. Children of the Mountain (a self help Athiestic cult that practices inversion therapy which is basically a that is based off of the aversion therapy movement which practiced cult like behavior and is also a parody of real life cult gurus such as Bentinho Massaro and Gurmeet Ram Rahim who claim to have "special practices that can help clear up anything from physical pain to mental health problems that you can't get anywhere else...for a price of course" the cult also shares similarities to Mckamey Manor which the creator Russ McKamey believes and practices similar things to what the fictional inversion therapy believes)
3. The Atheist Society Serving Mankind Under Noteworthy Coordinated Humanism (also an Atheistic cult based on various big leaders in the secular movement in the first world many of whom have been accused of cult like practices for their fanbases and also a critic on Atheism echo chambers and group thinking in that believe it is not enough for people to just say they are an Atheists but having to be Atheists like they are, Agnostics are cowards and stupid, can't take a joke about their beliefs but it's okay to make fun of other religions and if they get mad they're just "snowflakes", you have to have the same opinions as them about politics and media (goes both ways on the political spectrum) in which they are always right and everyone else is a [insert buzzword here], and if someone practices a religion then anything they have to say is wrong even if they are professionals in their felid because "real intellects are Atheists like me and Atheists can't ever have any biases" It also is a parody of Social Darwinism in which the theories of evolution are used as a springboard to be racist and sexist towards people in these online echo chambers and various Atheist based hate groups in the US such as Liberty Lobby, various facets of the Neo-nazi party and the New Century Foundation and so many more...)
4. Binder New World Wealth System (basically a pyramid scheme that practices cult like behavior by using fear of economic collapse to lure in recruits into giving up their savings. This is based on various pyramid schemes in the US that use cult like practices to get people literally buying or using their stuff and manipulate people to stay in pyramid scheme such as Mary Kay, Bitcoin, Untied Sciences of America and many many more)
5. The Altruists (cannibal nudist cult in the woods of entirely boomer males who use people in bad spots to fetch them young hitch hikers or "lost souls" who they then torture and eat. Ironically despite being the "supieuor generation" literally played themselves when they turned against Trevor and attempted to recruit him by force. Based on probably a lot of incidents but the one they have the most similarities with the Papua New Guinea Cannibal cult incident and the Brazilian Negromonte Cannibal Trio)
6. Peter Dreyfuss (parody of people that will bend over backwards to kiss the asses of their favorite media personalities even when they do/did terrible things...based on super fan cults of R Kelly, Harvey Weinstein and Michael Jackson)
7. Life Invader (controversal pick but it is on the cult stoppers website in the game so it is meant to be read as a cult. This is because of how social media uses cult like tatics to manipulate and sell people's personal information, terms and service agreements you could hide a body in and etc.)
Like the real world there is an organization that is set on stopping these cults called the Cultstoppers whose website in the game has some pretty sound advice:
"People think it's only teenage runaways, middle-aged virgins and creepy high-school loners who fall victim to cults, but it can happen to anyone. Including you or your loved ones."
This is very similar to a quote from one of my favorite documentries called Holy Hell: https://www.holyhellthedocumentary.com (yes it's on netflix):
"The general misconception I think is that people don't believe it could happen to them or they don't understand how it happened. And people don't see how the cult paradigm is everywhere. There's small cults just in your office."
