More of my reverse robins au:
Tims brucequest!!!!!
(Yes im ignoring the other characters because tims my favourite. Idc.)
First of all, I think it starts differently.
Obviously still quite a big crashout but.
I think my version of tim would have more agency and independence due to his role in the team (if you haven't read my other post, go do that but essentially my tim is oracle) and also since he already passed the role on ages ago you dont have the whole 'you took Robin away from me' thing that happened in cannon which was messy and badly managed although not totally anyone's fault in particular. But i think in my au tim would go to damian and be like. Hey. Bruce is alive. And damian would be like. Fucking prove it. Because at this point he has both Jason and dick to wrangle, not to mention the fact that he's trying to repair his relationship with steph still at this point. He just does not have the energy or time to devote to what could be a conspiracy theory and with all the shit thats going on he ends up just kind of letting tim go off on his own.
Which would hurt tim in his own way because he spent a lot of his childhood being just. Allowed to whatever and no one really cared. So I think that would strike a chord with him. (My au tim is like. Mildly more neglected than cannon I think. His parents are not necessarily abusers but they aren't good parents. He reconciles with his mum after his dad dies because in my au Janet lives not Jack but its like that one post thats like 'its funny how your parents always want to be a stable parental figure after you've stopped needing a stable parental figure' and he sort of still resents her but his dad's death reminded of him of his parents mortality so he decided to move past that and rebuild his relationship with her.)
Anyway tim goes abroad to prove himself right, and does all the stuff he does in cannon (i haven't read reb Robin ok idk exactly what happens) except that this is basically his first time doing the legwork because usually he has his team to do it for him. And then he gets his team of assassins and he does a sort of mixture of his usual role and the legwork and crime and stuff.
The other thing that happens, because he went more peacefully and also because damian slightly has his shit together more than dick although not very much mostly just because of unhealthy repressive coping mechanisms that he's using to take care of two teenagers, tam does not go looking for Tim, so she does not get mixed up in a hostage situation. HOWEVER, I think they are already friends at this point since tim is sort of the coordinator of the bats so they're already acquainted and will work together at WE later on. It mostly just means they dont have to deal with the fake engagement shit. And also its an excuse to let tim be mildly more feral.
Which he does!!!!!!!!! I mean honestly tims red robin run is already pretty feral but I think he's like. Even more unhinged. But no killing bc thats Bruce's rule and tim is autistic and he understands why the rule is in place so he follows it. Rules are only allowed to be broken when they dont make sense. But he definitely goes for like mild maiming and permanent injuries yknow.
Anyway he's helped by Ra's, gets his spleen removed, blows up a bunch of loa bases, just like cannon. He then outplays Ra's back in gotham through his amazing use of networking, he gets caught by damian when he gets kicked out of the window and damian is like you stupid little shit you could have died is this how you uphold Bruce's legacy? Huh? By getting kicked out of buildings by my megalomaniac grandfather??? Really???
And then he returns home and Bruce gets back out of the time stream and yippee all is solved and tim goes back to his nest or whatever. I'm going to have to rename that. And Bruce is like tim. Tell me you did not become a supervillain in my absence and tim is like I didn't kill anyone. Pinky promise. I only mildly maimed them. And Bruce is like goddammit tim and damians in the back like 'it could be worse, he could have done what steph did' and stephs like 'thats true he could have done that'
