New rule. If you're going to give any advice on diet to anyone with a chronic illness, you are not allowed to tell them they can't eat any particular food unless you come up with an alternative that is safe for them and meets nutritional needs. That means you can make zero suggestions until you know what they are allergic to and all health conditions they have.
Because it is DANGEROUS to tell people to start eliminating foods if their diet is already limited.
If a diet does not include sufficient macronutrients to sustain life, it is not a viable option. People can get calories from fat, protein, carbohydrates and alcohol. If someone has eliminated alcohol and restricted carbohydrates for medical reasons, you cannot then turn around and expect them to limit protein to 40 grams per day and eliminate all oils. The math does not add up.
Likewise, if someone is allergic to multiple legumes, nuts, grains and fruits, vegan is not going to be an option, period.
Suggesting someone get all their protein from fish when they're already allergic to crustaceans is both elitest and ignorant of the contaminant risks and environmental impact.
The kind of help I'd be open to getting would involve at least 20 hours of specific study of my case and an in-depth understanding of genetics, immunology, endocrinology and nutrition. And I'm pretty sure if that person exists they're not gonna be randomly responding to me online.
