Hi, I'm not sure how your name help works but I'm debating between two names and was wondering if you could help me :)

I'm transmasc and I've been going by Aleksander/Aleks online for a while and I really like it, but I'm afraid that my family probably wouldn't, for one it's very masc and for two I spell it "weird" (for where we live). It feels natural to me though, I've only been using it a couple months but it's the only new name I've thought of that's stuck that long. I also like it because another name I was thinking about was Zener, which could work as a nickname for Aleksander since the ends sound similar.

The other name I'm considering, but haven't used yet at all, is Emmo, it's really similar to my deadname so it'd be easy for people to get adjusted to, I don't love it as much as I do Aleksander but I don't dislike it. I think I might like it more if it was just a nickname for something else a little bit further from my deadname.

Sorry this was so long, the question is do you have any advice on which name I should pick, or any ideas for what Emmo could be short for?

I say go with Aleksander! Personally, we chose a name we thought would be easy for people to adjust to at first. It never quite felt right, even if we got used to it, and nobody was more willing to adjust just because the name sounded closer to our deadname
