💚 Green: Do you ever feel inspired by and/or jealous of other people's writing?

Absolutely! Both. I'm only human, after all.

In the past I have beaten myself with the stick of numbers and engagement and my AO3 statistics page and compared it to writer friends and contemporaries and also just the most popular writers in that given fandom. Sometimes I read something so fucking good (fanfic or original) that I wonder why I bother writing because I don't feel like I'm ever going to express myself as well as whatever I just read. I try to not wallow in that part and I don't do the numbers comparisons on AO3 anymore. Instead, I try to let those pieces of work that I really admire/love inspire me to push harder and do better and grow instead of falling into despair. Like, "Okay I loved this thing, let me dissect it and figure out how to replicate it. Let me take a small piece forward into my own work." I'm still working on that though! <3

My approach to characterization is very canon-compliant/canon-informed tbh.

So, okay, fanfiction is transformative work, it's adding something new to the universe of that piece of media that did not exist and is often also changing the medium (from visual to written) and is thus "out of character" by the very nature of that. (I've talked a little about approach to meta analysis vs fic writing here before.) But I revisit the source material quite a lot as I work on these stories, to keep locked into the canon. Even though I may reach my own headcanons that make sense/fit the story I'm trying to tell, those headcanons are extrapolated and informed by the existing evidence as heavily as possible. So yeah of course I highlight or ignore traits simply by the dint of being fallible and having my own biases and preferences, but I try REALLY HARD to steer as close to the original character as possible. Cuz like, I was compelled by that character as written :DD I wanna dig into them, yknow?

this is the fic I at one point referred to as "the fic I promised myself I would never write" lmao. I'd never written smut before and it scared me. but the idea was too strong I couldn't resist its allure flksdf

basically after miranda and flint's fight in 107 she wants to get back at him for intercepting her letter and ruining any chance she had to actually Have a Life Again and she correctly deduces that her sleeping with silver would upset flint more than anything else in the world. because that pretty little thief belongs to him I mean the schedule in silver's head belongs to him and the crew already assume miranda is an evil seductress and he can't TRUST silver but he NEEDS silver and flint just. has a pet fixation on this man who is the key to everything flint has been working towards for ten years. and miranda knows this. and she deserves a good orgasm. the writers of black sails have so cruelly denied her.

I answered another ask about this one where I ended up just putting the entire fic as it currently exists (only ~500 words) under a readmore lmao so. what else can I say about it. oh! I know!

this is the dialogue snippet I originally wrote in my notes for tcrw which then became the genesis of this fic:

m: I fucked your mr silver f: beg pardon? m: I met him in town today and I'd had every intention of coming home and saying to you the same thing I said to thomas when first you and I met—'if you don't fuck him, my love, then I will.' but I know you well enough by now that I thought it a useless preamble and so I simply skipped to the part where I had him for you. f: you had him FOR me. m: yes. would you like me to tell you about it? he is wonderfully skilled with his mouth f: I've had enough of his mouth, thanks 😒 m: oh I'm sure you have 😏

miranda keeps going for a little bit and then flint asks "why are you doing this" and she just says "because my life is empty, james"

That’s the thing though.

The stormtrooper played by Tom Hardy was someone who grew up with Finn. He recognizes Finn’s face, tells him “never took you for captain material” and slaps his butt. Completely oblivious to Finn having defected in the last movie. Looks like that was the whole point of that scene, to show that no one knew Finn had betrayed them. AND YET we had stormtroopers and Kylo Ren screaming “trAITOR” as soon as they saw him in the battle at the end of TFA. Like they’d had a bigass meeting about it.

Shit don’t add up.

5. What's your drink of choice? (Coffee/tea order, alcohol of choice, pop, etc)

Boring to say but I drink a lot of tap water XD

I think my favorite drink tho is some type of flavored iced latte, I'm partial to caramel, peppermint, vanilla, pumpkin spice.

For alcohol these days I mostly drink Bumbu rum with a few ice cubes :DD

7. What's your favorite way to travel? Is there a mode of travel you haven't done that you want to experience?

I really like the IDEA of train travel, but in the US, Amtrak is woefully slow and unpredictable. If it were just a bit faster or more precise then I would prefer trains hands down. I really do not care for driving or flying. I would love to take a high speed train, that sounds amazing.

19. Write, type, or speak?

I'm gonna assume this is asking about preferred mode of communication.

So. It actually depends on the topic I think. Most of the time I express myself better speaking, which is actually why I primarily use speech to text on my phone. But like, for certain subject matter, it helps to have a bit of a remove with text chat. And it helps me give more honest answers bc I'm able to emotionally distance myself from the other party. (Often my hyper empathy pushes me to give the less honest but more "comfortable" answer for me aka the one I think will make the person I'm talking to the happiest or cause the least friction.)

And then, bonus, writing brain for me is completely a different way of expressing myself. To the point where... I need a big decompression/break from socializing to drop into it, since Talking to People brain is so far away from writing brain. If that makes sense.
