Ok so the Gabi wigs. What bothers me is the same thing that bothers me with the HOTD wigs, and that is lack of strand color variation.
The first wig: fantastic, no notes. But as she ages and becomes sick with consumption, you would expect to see the graying to have varied texture and hues. Highlights and lowlights, the salt and pepper (though not as stark because of the lighter starting point)
The second wig looks too pristine. Too fake. (It would have made a lovely impact for her hair to have changed from a more natural-looking texture to the sleek version we see in the flashbacks post-turning, to emphasize the effect that the Blood has on the body.) This is not a difficult thing to do with wigs, even if they are pre-fabricated and not hand-tied custom wigs.
The modern timeline wig works because her hair was white when turned, also no notes on that.
If I were the hair and makeup designer, I would have started the first table scene with her natural blonde hair, then transitioned to the ash blonde one, then had the sleek white one after her turning.
This is less a crit of the show specifically and more a frustration with industry standards and timeframes/budget.
Yeah, I mean... a lot of people are not happy about the wigs.
And I get it! My pointing out the in-universe reason for why it's silver/white is no statement on how it is done.
I mean, the wigs for the brothers or young Lestat is a whole different thing, they were likely done like that on purpose, through Lestat's lens of memory.
But hers? I just .... *shrugs*
