The rain pelted your soft skin as you sat on the crest of a hill that was overlooking a large field. Tears mixed with rainwater as you tried to process what you were feeling. You had just found out that your parents had been kiled in a car accident. You let out a shaky breath as your eyes diverted to the full moon in the night sky

Daniel was sleeping, his hook laid across his stomach, when he was awakened by a overwhelming sense of sadness. His mind wondered tp you. Once he saw flashes of water and grass, he realized where you were at. He was in front of you in mere seconds. Concern sparkled on his amber eyes when he saw you. You were absolutely soaked. Once you noticed Daniel, you stood, sniffling as he removed his coat, wrapping it around your slightly trembling form.

"Y/N" his voice was hypnotic and you closed your eyes before wrapling your arms around his waist, hugging him.

"My parents are dead." Your voice broke at the end of your confession. He placed his left hand around your back as he held you.

"Y/N."

You knew he was probably about to comfort you but at this point, you just didn't want to feel the pain right now. So you did what you usually did when you didn't want to feel pain.

"I'm fine." You shed his coat, attempting to hand it back to him.

To Daniel, it sounded like you were out of breath. However, he had observed humans long enough to know that you were actually trying to refrain from crying. He didn't want you to do that.

"You are 𝗻𝗼𝘁 fine." Daniel, once again, wrapped his coat around your form. He decided that he needed to get you somewhere warm and dry. He didn't want you to get sick. He staryed to use his hypnotic abilities on you as you couldn't hold back your tears any longer. You sobbed softly. Soon your body and mind started to feel fuzzy and the intoxicating scent of warm honey filled your nostrils. You were barely aware of Daniel gently picking you up onto his arms.

"𝑺 𝒍 𝒆 𝒆 𝒑." was the last thing you heard before falling into a deep slumber

You woke up in your bed. You were no longer in your wet clothes but in your most comfortable pajamas. Uou were now warm and dry. However, it was quite obvious that you had cried in your sleep. Daniel was seated at the edge of your king sized bed, his back to you. You took in the sight for a few moments before the memories of the previous night flooded your mind.

"Thank you." You softly said, a fresh batch of tears pooling in your eyes.

He turned to you, his featured softening as he carefully wiped the teardrops from your cheeks.

"My dear Y/N. You are welcome."

Then I read in the books never relent

I learnt from another to stay true

Then I read more and my eyes twinkled.

I devoured this wealthy pages whole like fufu

I knew I was so much more, I was empowered

When they came back to taunt me, I hit them with my new found juju

But even with the books, my heritage was taunted

I then wrote for them to read about amala and sharia

I took them on a journey until they felt haunted

For every page was about this Naija

I made them crave for my heritage of Africa.
