Rainbow High Littles Rainbow Fantasy Fairies Astrid, Apple, Sapphire, Amethyst, Opal, & Emerald
Iris Bow
I do have one more question about her:
Why is it that when she no longer has a Shimmers ring she has normal legs? Why doesn't she have the standard Shimmers legs like her sister Astrid and the other inhabitants of Rainbow World?
Is she not from Rainbow World like the main girls? If so, when did she get there? Why does Astrid have the legs and wings if they aren't naturally from Rainbow World?
Or is there something about Iris that prevented and made her different?
Is it her apparently darker nature? That she isn't pure of heart like the others?
That makes me wonder if she could always use Dark Sparkleglow but couldn't access it until she reached her ultimate despair
It would also explain her experimenting on Sparkleglow it being her main interest
There's clearly something about Iris that makes her different from literally everyone else in Rainbow World
Honestly makes me think of Blackfire and I love her more because of it
I really need to draw Iris now
I watched the Season Finale of Rainbow High: Rainbow World and I gotta say
I still love Iris Bow
She's a flawed character in a realistic aspect
To find out that she was the threat all along but also not, in my opinion, is good villainy
I wouldn't necessarily say that she "created" the Dark Sparkleglow. More like she became it
Her brand of Dark Sparkleglow was also probably different from the standard because hers was created through her sadness and grief over her friends leaving her
She said that she tried to control it but couldn't. Was that the 1st time she created it? When her ring disappeared and she knew her friends had left her? Or was that just the final straw that caused it to finally take over?
During the goodbye party, she missed it because of her experimenting on Sparkleglow. There's a good chance that she was actually experimenting on her own Dark Sparkleglow and how to stop it. She also probably knew that she couldn't tell her friends because they wouldn't believe her or would've thought of her as a threat. She already didn't want them to break up because to her, they wouldn't be friends anymore
Misty already said that Iris has claimed that the Desolation was back and it wasn't. What if it was at one point and because they believed her it disappeared? Like when Mirabel from Encanto tried to worn Abuela Alma Madrigal about the cracks in Casita?
The Dark Sparkleglow is clearly tied to Iris' emotional state. So her sadness, grief and loneliness are clearly strong emotions and are feeding the Dark Sparkleglow within her.
It also seems to influence her desires. She wanted to remain a Shimmer and also to have her friends back. By doing everything she did she figured it would bring them back to her and it probably got worse when she saw that it wasn't working. And when they finally did come back and she later got outed for being the threat, she imprisoned the other original Shimmers to keep them from stopping her. The Dark Sparkleglow inside of her was getting stronger
What was she going to do with the others had she not been outed and stopped?
Speaking of the others: Misty
She's a lot more aware than she let's on. She knew Iris was acting strange. She noticed the sparkles in Iris' hands and she started to raise the alarm
This brings me back to how Iris' brand of Dark Sparkleglow was different than the standard, because Misty didn't clock that that's what was in Iris' hands. Or she didn't want to believe that that's what was going on until she couldn't ignore it
Her Shimmers ring also probably amplified her powers, making her a lot stronger and feeding the Dark Sparkleglow
I also wonder just how long ago the original Shimmers broke up. A few months? 2 years? How long has Iris been corrupted?
And how long has Astrid known but couldn't do anything about it? Astrid is clearly someone special to Iris' and the key to saving her. Iris shot Dark Sparkleglow near her but never tried to hit, she tried to keep her away from Shimmers related stuff to protect her from herself. Astrid later outed her. She knew that Iris was the threat to Rainbow World and Iris' reaction also shows that she knew that too. Was that the real her poking out for a bit when faced with the truth?
Were the Dark Iris and Real Iris warring?
Iris knows that she's in the wrong. When Whitney asked her where she got the Dark Sparkleglow, she hesitated and stammered but didn't even try to lie.
In the end, Iris' friends still care about her but want to pursue their own things and they probably made it clear to her that just because they weren't Shimmers anymore, they'd still be her friends. They clearly still cared a lot about her. Misty also secretly making her another ring probably helped. They probably also talked to the others about Iris joining them as a Shimmer and friend. She clearly couldn't be left on her own to stew in her negative emotions and being a Shimmer was also part of her identity.
All in all, I love Iris Bow and the other original Shimmers. I hope they at least come back to visit or she get's to go see them. They're all flawed but still care
