Degrees in Astrology

Just some of the research I have compiled to help me learn more about the different degrees within a birth chart.

There are 12 signs within the zodiac wheel, each sign is made up of 3 sets of decans that are equal to 30 degrees.

1st - 0 - 9 degrees 59 minutes, 59 seconds

2nd - 10 - 19 degrees 59 minutes, 59 seconds

3rd - 20 - 29 degrees 59 minutes, 59 seconds

Each decan is equivalent to 10 days and there are some differences in how different signs present themselves depending on which decan they fall into.

Some different interpretations of the degrees:

If a planet is at 0 degrees in a chart it is indicative of new karma, you may not have experienced it in previous life times or are restarting with new challenges, the planet and the sign are undiluted in nature - the light and the dark.

The 29th degree is called an anaretic degree and symbolises karmic completion, plus possible long term fame in the areas dictated by the sign, planet and house that it is in.

Other indicators of fame are the 5th (short term) and the 17th (long term)

If a planet is between the 14th and 16th degree you will find that you deal with the signs specific issues. If you have a planet at the 15th degree in any of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Aquarius and Scorpio) you will be blessed with resourcefulness, strange coincidences that appear as lucky accidents that seem magical and you may be considered the go to person by your inner circle. This is called an Avatar degree.

There is a something called the Aries point, this is when a planet is at 0 degrees in any of the cardinal signs (Aries, Libra, Cancer, Capricorn). This symbolises recognition - not necessarily celebrity - within your chosen field. It reveals potential for individuals to make an impact and be recognised through their Aries point gift. For example someone with Mercury at 0 degrees in Libra might be an excellent communicator and be recognised as such.

astrologers, how have you noticed the energies of critical degrees manifest as? i’m not talking about 0° & 29° because everyone talks about those. i’m talking about: for the cardinal signs: 0°, 13°, 26°//for the fixed sign: 8°, 9°, 21°, 22°//for the mutable signs: 4°, 17°

astrologers, how much do minor aspects affect you in comparison to major aspects? do you think minor aspects can harbor as much importance and energy as major aspects?

so i hear mars square mars in synastry is a difficult placement to have. what do y’all think about squares that are ruled by the same planet, eg. gemini mars & virgo mars or sagittarius mars & pisces mars (traditional ruler was jupiter for both)? also, do y’all think that the modalities can help elevate this harshness of this aspect or no?

my thoughts are that squares with mutable mars placements in synastry are easier to maintain because they are mutable by nature & seen as easier to get along with—more light-hearted & these pairings i listed are co-ruled by the same planet (even the traditional sag & pisces ruling). cardinal mars pairings will be harder to maintain because they each need control while fixed might be harder to maintain because they are a little more fixated and refuse to budge.
