Not Adrien ending up at the end of the episode with feelings even WORSE about Ladybug, himself and where their partnerhood currently stands

After asking her what she wanted to talk about with him (something he was so sure of she wanted to do because she was furious with him) on the Eiffel tower and now knowing that it apparently wasn't supposed to be a private conversation in the first place with Ladybug being in contact with Viperion via earpiece

Not one half of AstroChats face visually looking like ShadowMoths half-covered face through the reflection of CosmoBug who is turning away from him.

Not AstroChats purple-yellow eyes fitting a bit too perfectly with the eye color schemes his akumatized self and Gabriel had for the entire episode

It’s always frustrating to see people proposing some fairly divisive explanations when we know the characters have well-intentioned miscommunication all the time.  After all this time, the main character’s really haven’t changed that much, although the both have far more to worry about and are both quite a bit more introspective.  It is the scale and the impact of the misunderstanding that is allowed to get big.

 I’m expecting a Chat Blanc level emotional punch, but that doesn’t mean I expect it to happen for petty reasons.  Not when we know the prior episode includes Astro Chat Noir not quite clearing Akumatized Tikki’s explosive force just outside of Earth’s orbit.

Sure, Ladybug’s healing powers have never failed.  Yet.  

However, it is important to remember we’ve never had a situation where Tikki’s powers were corrupted during the battle to know what this is going to mean to us all.  Can she generate a Lucky Charm when we’re not even sure how this Akuma works as it appears to literally be baked in?

It’s also just as important to remember that we have Kuro Neko as the episode following Ephemeral.  Especially as the image seems to be a big grinning cat, we have to wonder if Plagg is being partly mimicked.

If Plagg has been hurt and needs to recover, he might even been hibernating inside the ring.

Adrien might not even be able to be Chat Noir for the moment.  He’s spent most of this season feeling a bit powerless and struggling to communicate.  What better way is there to possibly pull that all into sharp relief?

An Akumatized Adrien would give us some strong Chat Blanc parallels... 

His inactivated Miraculous might not be able to do anything, so there probably couldn’t be a better time for him to be Akumatized without giving up his identity.

What’s more, in the wake of Dearest Family, Marinette is sure to look for some way to power up her protective charms against future corruption.  

In other words, there is no better time for Adrien to be Akumatized and get some catharsis from the stress he’s been under this season, and no better time for Marinette to desperately miss her partner.  

Once Plagg (and therefore Chat Noir) is back to normal, they’ll both be in a better place to hug it out and actually talk about all of their worries.
