Get excited, Auradonians! Those of you who were here last year remember that August 11th is Robin Hood and Maid Marian’s anniversary, and in the Westerly region, this is celebrated every year with an annual field day and archery contest. Attendance at this field day is totally optional, but in case you wanted to post threads of your characters attending, please use the asuevent013 tag.
Here’s a timeline/outline of the day:
From 9 a.m. to noon will be our morning activities. These include:
Archery (Beginner’s Bracket)
Archery (Intermediate Bracket)
Archery (Advanced Bracket)
There will be a break from competitions from noon to 1:30 pm, where people can get lunch and enjoy the ren-fair like booths set up in the area without worrying about missing out on participating in or watching the games.
At 1:30 p.m. will be the “main event” – the expert archery contest. Nothing else will be taking place at the same time as this, although all food booths, etc. will still be open.
From 3 to 5 pm will be the more traditional field day team games – things like tug of war, sack race, egg toss, etc. Feel free to get creative with what kind of silly activities are in this part of the day! I’ve seen talk on the dash of families competing in this, but friend groups are also welcome.
At five p.m. will be the two eating contests – pie eating for those who love sweets, and hotdog eating for a more modern-day competition feel.
At 7 p.m., a banquet (kicked off by a toast to Maid Marian and Robin Hood’s 26th anniversary) will take place, followed shortly after by karaoke and a bonfire for the duration of the evening. If you have any questions or want any activities added to the mix, please let us know!
