Hippie new year 🍾✨

So...I finally watched all 10 seasons of AT recently-
I love how Fern’s new design reflects how they're finally free of being Finn’s ‘duplicate’. Obviously their outfit doesn’t really resemble Finn’s to any significant degree…
Their freakishly tall physique is, like, the most clear symbol of them and Finn having ‘grown in other directions’ since Come Along With Me. Finn grew taller but also picked up more muscle and fat… Literally human flesh.
Fern just grew taller, much less ‘human’, much more ‘plant-like’. Kinda similar to the incredibly tall tree they end up being by the 1000+ Era.
It also kinda resembles the proportions of their ‘Green Knight’ form, while still being distinctive enough to tell that they have moved on from that stage of their life.
The more feminine proportions are another very obvious departure from 'being like Finn', and they also kinda draw on elements from their original design. Namely the more pronounced hips an 'evolution' of their poofy 'pants'.
What started as them not-quite-being-able to imitate Finn exactly has now become an expression of their own distinctive self.
And in addition to them being ‘clean-shaven’ (I mean, I don’t think Fern needs to shave, but you know what I mean), their hair is also very very shiny like Finn’s hair used to be in his youth….
While currently, Adult Finn’s hair is very wild and messy.
(Finn's hair also slightly darkened with age, which is very common for Humans. While Fern's seemed to have lightened?)
Flowers blooming in Fern’s hair has been a thing with them since the start, but they used to bloom red and yellow. Now their flowers are blue, white and purple/pink, cooler colors to show their inner peace.
(I’ve been thinking if these colors could also symbolize the connection to Finn that they still retains without necessarily being a Finn. Blue and white being Finn’s main outfit colors + his skin color…. But I think the flowers too purple and not close enough to Finn’s skin tone for this to work?)
And of course, the reason why we can get such a good look at all of these flowers is because Fern has already given up on the most notable sign of being a ‘Finn’, and also the one their grass-form had the most difficulty replicating, the Hat.
