I'm very excited about the news from the NY toy fair regarding the announced 40th anniversary black series figures. At the same time I'm terrified about what is going to happen to my wallet. When I started collecting modern Star Wars action figures my aim was to find the best modern version of the originally released 93 Kenner figures. This wasn't always easy as some characters got treated very poorly during the decades (Bib Fortuna) while other characters still haven't been updated to this day (Imperial Dignitary/Sim Loo). Also it wasn't easy in many cases to match a modern figure to an original one (is Bren Derlin really the Rebel Commander or is it the Hoth Rebel Soldier from the legacy collection?). Just recently the black series released a lot of original characters in their 6" line, like this AT-AT Driver, and now with the announcement of the first 12 Kenner figures being re-released as 6" highly articulated black series figures a dream comes true. Hopes are high they will run through the whole set of 93 figures. However I would have much preferred they had kept releasing figures in 3.75" scale rather than 6". On top of that I am frustrated lately with the availability and price development of the 6" figures. To this day the AT-AT Driver is not available via standard channels here in Germany and thus it is nearly impossible to get him for less than 35€ ($40). I suspect the new released "first twelve" will demand even higher prices. I really hope the availability will be better than in recent waves and will not allow such dramatic price developments. My hopes are also high that the vintage packaging (which I welcome very much!) will allow opening the blisters without damaging the packaging. We will see how that's going to be. In the meantime let's enjoy the AT-AT Driver in a rather awkward pose... #starwars #actionfigures #atatdriver #theblackseries #6scale
