Happy birthday to Athanasius Kircher, the 17th-century polymath who was hailed as the last Renaissance man and “the master of hundred arts”. Read John Glassie's essay on one of Kircher's great masterworks Mundus Subterraneus (1664) and how it was inspired by a subterranean adventure Kircher himself made into the bowl of Vesuvius: http://buff.ly/2qAkvox (Pictured here: Kircher's vision of underground fire canals) 🌎🕳🔥 #publicdomainreview #athanasiuskircher #kircher #art #illustration #earth #globe #world #fire #underground #canals #map #maps #polymath #books #bookstagram #booksofinstagram

Athanasius Kircher - Moon Facts
The 17th century Jesuit scholar Athanasius Kircher discovered these strange facts about the moon.
The moon is exactly 400 times smaller than the Sun. The moon sits 1/400th the distance between the Earth and the Sun. The moon precisely mirrors the annual movement of the Sun. We don't know how the moon was formed. The moon is lighter in mass than expected. It's gravitational field is stronger than expected, and the core is abnormally small.
Earth's circumference is 366% larger than the moon. Which is the same as the number of days in a year. The Earth rotates 366 times during one trip around the Sun.
Minoan Cretes divided the circle into 366 degrees (not 360 like we do today), they further divided the circle into 60 minutes, and 60 seconds. The moon orbits the Earth 366 times in 10,000 days. The number 366 is a fundamental code for our planet.
83 centimeters equals 1 megalithic yard, just short of a modern day yard. Hundreds of megalithic ruins around the world use this same measure as the building block for their construction. 1,000 Minoan feet equals 366 megalithic yards. The area inside the Saracen circle of Stonehenge is exactly 1,000 square megalithic yards. How is this universal unit of measure so widely used and known throughout the planet?
The megalithic yard is calculated from the circumference of the Earth. Divided into 366 degrees, 60 minutes, and 60 seconds. One of these seconds equals 36.6 megalithic yards. 36.6 rounded up is 37 - a prime number. The word "faith" is used 37 times in the Gospels of the Bible. The Hebrew word for wisdom has a cabalistic (numerical) value of 37. 37 and 73 are mirrored prime numbers.
The very first line of the book of Genesis; "In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth..." has a cabalistic value of 2,701 = 37 x 73. If you take that same verse, multiply each letter value by number of letters, then divide by the number of words you get 3.1415 - which is another well known number, pi.
Our DNA contains sequences, patterns, and codes. They are based on multiples of the prime number 37. The atomic mass of every amino acid (all 20 of them) in our bodies are multiples of 37. The human body's normal temperature is 37 degrees celsius.
