i think as passionate football fans we all want our clubs/teams to succeed. and yeah even if it is preseason and it’s not a “huge” deal, it’s a cup that if a certain team wants to try hard enough, they can win. these tours in america, asia, etc. are important to fans, and to clubs, where managers can see which players want it bad enough to be a set piece/ a promising starting member for matches in the premier league/ la liga/ bundesliga etc. i went to the madrid derby just to watch some good futbol and enjoy a night out. which i got. even though yes i went there to support athletico, real madrid did just as well, they put up a good fight. even though derbies are scarier because the tensions are higher, both the fans and the players from both clubs actually ended up in altercations. i think it’s embarrassing that it’s not even the actual season of futbol and as fans, we’ve already shown so much disrespect and hatred towards eachother (and the clubs we support)
