HGCE 1/144 Terminal Prototype Mobile Suit ZGMF-X191M2 "Infinite Justice Gundam Type II"
I'm really starting to get into the SEED kit designs....
This makes the 3rd proper HGCE kit I've built, following the Mighty Strike and the BuCUE, and the second one of the newer SEED Freedom kits, with their more modern designs and "SEED Action System" joints. I got the Infinite Justice as a Christmas present to go along with my older Mighty Strike build.
I'm still yet to watch SEED Freedom (or even really SEED Destiny), but the Infinite Justice's design is too well done to walk past it. Just like the Mighty Strike, this is an upgrade of the older Infinite Justice, both in-universe and in terms of the kit itself. The kit has been completely redesigned to work with the SEED Action system, with some clever internal building techniques to allow for maximum poseability that had the build feeling almost like a RG at some points (especially when putting together the torso).
The kit is excellently colour separated, with practically no colour correction required. There are two magenta colour correction stickers for the top of the gun, but aside from that everything in the kit is colour separated, even including the yellow triangle symbol on the shield. There are some really tiny blue metalic stickers for the front and rear auxillary head cameras, but the kit includes plenty of spares just in-case. The only thing that might require correction are two of the vents on the rear skirt, which unlike the others are not recreated with the combination of grey and magenta, but I didn't bother painting these as they're rather difficult to see with the backpack attached.
As if to emphasise the suit's counterpart to the Mighty Strike's gold, the inner-frame, hands, and a few of the other detail parts are recreated in a metallic silver. There's a glossier one for the more visible pieces, and a more matte silver for the more functional ones. There are a few grey pieces as well. I did my usual metalic weathering for these, but for the silver I just added the silver pigment powder and a little grey panel lining to avoid covering up the shine of the plastic. I also added a little heat bluing and soot to the backpack weapons and the beam rifle, but I limited any other weathering so it'd match better with my existing Mighty Strike build. Like with my Mighty Strike I did add a little drybrushing to the black parts as well.
The Infinite Justice comes with quite a few optional weapons and other option parts, apart from the beam rifle (which can be stowed on the back-skirt with a small peg). The kit includes two open fist options, but unlike the Mighty Strike there's only a left-handed open hand option. The kit includes the MX2002 Carrier Beam Shield, which itself carries a Beam Boomerang (with its own beam effect part) and a "Grapple Stinger" anchor with a lead wire for posing. The beam effect can be activated when the Boomerang is stored on the shield, or when the Boomerang is held. The Grapple Stinger can be removed from the shield by removing its beam emitter boss, which also has the other connection for the lead wire.
The kit also includes the beam effect for the shield, in a trans-pearlescent blue, which clips into the beam emitter boss.
Also included are a few beam effects for the M2X32E Volantes backpack drone's "slasher" mode, and one for the Spitz Schwert Beam Horn (which is nicely designed to slip over the existing horn part, which is hinged to let it pose forward).
The Infinite Justice has two beam sabers stored on the side-skirts, just as with the Mighty Strike, however the connection is a lot more secure. They are built into the side skirt, and removed by partially disassembling the skirts, preventing them from falling out accidentally.
The little maroon band around the combined mode connection clip needs to be painted as well. The beam sabers combine in the old-fashioned mode, rather than containing a pre-connected combined piece like in the Mighty Strike, but the connection is secure enough for some cool posing. There are two beam saber effects parts included.
Also included are two beam effects parts for the Tonitrus Heavy Beam Cutting Leg. The knee and dorsum of the foot have hinged emitter parts in grey that pivot to easily accept the beam effect parts, and the ankle and knee have plenty of articulation to facilitate this.
The backpack Volantes drone can be removed and displayed independently. There are a few rotating parts that let the nose of the fighter fold foward or flip back, and the engines of the drone are on a separate hinge that lets them face behind the kit or straight down. Each split wing part is on its own independent rotating disc part as well, located within the magenta ring. The wings are tipped with extra beam rifles.
The wings can stow together for flight mode, or split into a rather obvious "X-Wing" inspired mode by rotating on a peg hidden within the engine/missile pod parts. Located on the front of the fighter are two long-range beam cannons, attached securely with a C-clip and securing part. They can pivot over the Infinite Justice's shoulders for posing, although unfortunately I don't thing the beam emitters are compatible with any of the included effects parts.
The Infinite Justice makes full use of the SEED Action system to be extremely well articulated. The hip attachments can split to let the legs hit a wider pose, and the side-skirts can rotate out of the way as well. The knees and elbows allow for 90 degrees of flexion, and there's an additional peg in the knees that lets them abduct and adduct slightly for more dynamic posing. There's plenty of ab-crunch and waist rotation, and plently of movement at the neck as well thanks to an extra hinge at the bottom of the neck.
The Infinite Justice looks really good posed next to the Mighty Strike, and I'm glad I was able to build both kits.
Overall, I'm very proud of how nicely this kit and its poses turned out, and it's a real eye-grabber up on the shelf as part of my new SEED display. I'm definitely tempted to keep adding to my SEED collection.
“Mommy, were not going to Aunt Miri’s wedding?” Arshan asked her mother.
Kira and Lacus both look at Cagalli. That day, the couple decided to stay at her house, for tomorrow will be 2 days before the said wedding and the schedule for their flight to PLANTS.
“Baby, mommy have to run an errand tomorrow, and I can’t go to your Aunt’s wedding.” Cagalli stubbornly said.
Kira just shake his head in disappointment.
“But she said, I’ll be her flower girl,” Arshan said in teary eyes.
Cagalli looks at Lacus and Kira. “Maybe you should let her come, Cagalli.” Lacus said. “She’s right, we can watch over her.” Kira added.
“It wont hurt, if you let her out under your wings for a while.” Lacus smiles.
Cagalli just looked at her daughter, “Please Mom? Can we go too? I wanted to see PLANTs, Uncle Dearka said it’s much beautiful than Earth.”
Cagalli muttered unintelligible about something like, that bastard, Dearka.
Then she looks at the couple, “Can you watch over her for a day? I promise I’ll be at the wedding.” She asked.
“Of course, Cagalli!” Lacus almost jump in happiness.
Arshan jumps up and down too, “Thank you, thank you mommy!” she hugs her mother.
“Just promise me that you’ll be a good girl while mom is still not with you, okay?”
“Yes mommy, I promise!” she once more hugs her.
“You made a great decision, Cagalli.” Kira patted her shoulder.
“Kira, you know what you have to do,” Cagalli said, her worried face is very visible.
“I know, I know. We’ll stay out of his way.” Kira promised.
“Don’t worry Cagalli.” Lacus also assures her.
That night, Cagalli help her daughter pack her things.
“Mom, are you sure you’re not coming tomorrow with us?” Arshan asked her one more time.
“Arshan, mommy have to talk first to her boss so that I can file my leave and be with you.” Cagalli said as she holds her daughter’s face.
“But, it’ll be less fun if you’re not there.” She made a face. Cagalli smiles, then she hugs her. “Don’t worry, I’ll be with you after a day, that’s a promise.”
“Okay mom,” Arshan was now contented.
81 C.E / PLANTS January Colony’s Docking Point 9:30am
Arshan was so excited on her first trip at the colony; she enjoyed floating on the docking area while Lacus and Kira happily watch her play around.
The PLANTs is like no other, being colonies that stand out at the Earth’s atmosphere, despite the critics who opposed them. PLANTs stay quiet about it.
The docking area is much more like an airline on Earth, the difference is, the simple plane is a big, round shuttle with four large racket-like launcher. And the sky is like a never ending darkness.
The arriving area contains a long almost white corridor. With wide open window where you can see the whole docking point of PLANTs. A lot of people continue to chatter at walk thru the corridor.
“Arshan-chan, don’t move so quickly! We may lose you!” Kira repeatedly remind her. Lacus just laughing at her husband's remarks. “Just let her Kira, she’s enjoying herself.” She said.
Arshan happily runs around the docking area, until she bumps into someone.
“Awww,” Arshan said as she bounce and harshly sit on the floor, tears starting to flow until the man sat in front of her.
“Are you alright, little one? I’m so sorry I didn’t see you.” A man with a calm voice hushes her. He wears heavy dark sunglasses, and wearing a gray coat. This man has a blue, almost shoulder length hair.
Arshan open her eyes and look up. They are having an eye contact. The man on the other hand were stunned and unable to look away of the child’s staring eyes, as if he was looking straight into his own eyes. Her emerald eyes are staring back at him.
Then came rushing Lacus and Kira, now holding Arshan’s arm and searching for any signs of injuries.
“Are you okay, Arshan?” Lacus worried voice echoed to her; however, Arshan nods and hold back her tears.
“I told you, you’ll get lost,” Kira scolded her too.
Arshan just hugs Lacus’ waist and look back at the man who she bumps with.
“Sir, I’m really sorry for-,” Lacus started to say, and then,
“Lacus? Kira?” the man said,
Lacus and Kira both look at each other and then to the man in front of them.
And then, he removes his sunglass.
“Athrun???” Kira said.
“Athrun,” Lacus also recognized him.
“It’s been years, I’m so sad that I lost contact with both of you!” Athrun offer his hand to Kira.
Kira then shakes hand with him, “It is Athrun,”
“We’re happy to see you.” Lacus said as she briefly hugs him.
“So, what are you doing here at the docking area?” Kira asked him.
“Ah, I’m waiting for my girlfriend’s shuttle, it will arrive maybe 30minutes from now.” he explain as he pocketed his sunglass.
“So how are you both?” Athrun then noticed Lacus’ tummy.
“I can see that you two are having you’re second child, wow, not bad, Kira.” He smiles.
Kira started to say something to agree to him, but then Arshan speaks;
“Who is him, Aunt Lacus? Is he your friend?” she asked them both.
“Aunt?” Athrun questioningly look at Lacus.
The couple looked troubled on how they will change the subject, but they also know that there is no turning back.
“Athrun, she’s not our daughter.” Kira explained and letting a heavy sighs.
And then the next words made Athrun froze. “She’s Cagalli’s daughter.”
Lacus and Kira saw as realization hits Athrun, they both know that she looks exactly like her father; having his blue hair and his emerald eyes.
“C-cagalli’s??? I-I didn’t know that Cagalli had a daughter, much or less a husband?” Athrun can’t help but to think.
Kira and Lacus both stare at him.
“I guess we should get going, Athrun.” Kira said.
“Y-yeah, Kira.”
“It’s really nice to see you again.” Lacus smiles.
The couple starts to walk away.
“Kira, you two will go to Dearka’s wedding, right?” Athrun runs after them. “Ahh, yes. That’s why we came back here, to attend the wedding.” Kira said as he watches Athrun sits in front of Arshan.
“I’m Athrun. You’re Arshan, right? I’m so sorry about the accident, Arshan. Would you forgive me?” Athrun offers his hand to the child.
Kira and Lacus watches as Arshan takes Athrun ‘s hand and shakes with it.
Arshan smiles at him, “Yes, Mr. Athrun! And I’m sorry too,”
“You can call me Uncle, if that’s okay?” Athrun said as he smiles too.
“Okay, Uncle Athrun.” She smiles more too.
“We’re going now, Athrun.” Kira said as he lifted Arshan up.
“See you at the wedding.” Lacus said as the couple disappeared.
Few minutes later, Athrun is still occupied by his own thoughts. What Kira said still repeating into his mind. “She’s Cagalli’s daughter.”
How hard he tried to think about it, Cagalli never marry any one. Or is that what he thinks. Is he an idiot thinking that the girl he hurt still waiting for him to make up things with her? That Cagalli is still waiting for him, for all those years?
Athrun suddenly being hugged from the back, by a girl with a short and red hair. “A-aww, Lu-luna, you startled me!” Athrun said as he steady his self.
“You really looks cool while in deep thoughts, Athrun.” Suddenly, she kisses him on the lips. “I miss you,”
“Lu-luna, you don’t have to do it in public!” Athrun tried to stop her from hugging him.
“No one’s looking. Don’t be so paranoid!” Luna just made a face.
“It’s not that, you know you’re situation, Luna!” Athrun scolded her.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m a super star, and I have to get away to the reporters out there, so come on!” she tugged Athrun and almost run thru the door.
Kira, still tapping his fingers on the table at their house. Still undecided what should they do.
“It’s no use hiding the truth, Kira. He’ll figure it out, as you said, he looks straight into her eyes, take note, his own photocopied eyes.” Miriallia said with a sour tone.
“I’m worried about Cagalli. She might freak out! You know her! She’ll going to snatch away her daughter!” Kira explained to them.
“Like Miri said, it’s no use now, maybe you should call her, and tell her what happened.” A platinum haired boy said.
“Yzak is right. Sigh, you know, I don’t know what will happened to us, once Athrun knows the truth.” Dearka said with worried tone.
“That’s another problem; all of us hide his daughter from him. He’ll be furious.” Miri said while fixing their tea.
“You should call Cagalli, Kira. It will be a best way for now.” Lacus said.
“I guess that leaves me no choice then,” Kira flip his phone, and dialed Cagalli’s number.
After a few more attempts on calling her, Cagalli still won’t pick up.
“I think she left her phone somewhere.” Kira announced to them.
They all look at Kira. Yzak was drinking his bottled water, Dearka just hold Miri’s hands, and Lacus look disappointed by now.
“Whoa, whoa! Sad faces little ones?” a guy with a slight curly blond hair entered the scene.
“Hey, Uncle Mu!” Lacus greeted him, and an echoes of hello’s and hi’s floats to the room. Mu la Flaga, is Lacus' adoptive father, and they all respected him, not because he’s an ex-military soldier, but because he’s the one who takes good care of them. Almost all of them we’re adoptive by their respective parents. Like Lacus, Yzak and Miri.
“We enjoyed fishing, Aunt Lacus!” Arshan started to say to them.
“That kiddo let the hell of sweat out of me!” Mu almost cried out. And then climb upstairs.
Lacus just smiled, “Come here, let’s wipe your sweat, little girl.”
“Okay!” Arshan reach over her.
Lacus and Arshan got upstairs too to change her clothes.
“So what’s the plan now?” Yzak asked them.
“Plan about what?” Kira asked too.
“Well, about Athrun.” Yzak talks about his best friend.
“I’ve been lying to him for over 5years, you know I can’t take it anymore!” Yzak complains.
“Hey, it’s not just you, Yzak. We all did that, out of respect to Cagalli’s request.” Dearka says with an annoyed look.
“It seems odd to all of you, but my sister doesn’t want Athrun to know about Arshan. We, still don’t know what happened to the two of them 7 or 6 years ago, and still refusing to tell the truth, right?” Kira explains.
“Yzak, did Athrun told you what happened?” Dearka pointed out.
They all look expectantly at him. He looks confused.
“That guy stills hide it from me, every time I bring up that topic, he always evades me. That’s why even a little bit information about the historical break-up didn’t spill up.” He said and walks away to the kitchen table.
Yzak let his self-settled on to the couch besides Dearka.
“Until now, he is very mysterious. I hate that kind of guy.” Miri commented.
“Well, that’s why you’re marrying a very transparent guy in the whole universe.” Yzak muttered.
The soon-to-be-couple only laughs at him.
“Aunt Lacus, I have a weird feeling today,” Arshan said as Lacus started to changed her clothes.
“What is that, sweetie?” Askes Lacus.
“About the man earlier, I think I know him.” Arshan said innocently.
“Athrun?” Lacus stops abruptly and look at her.
“Yes, Uncle Athrun, I think I saw him somewhere. Hmmm? Is he an artist?”
Lacus just stared at her, Arshan still wondering who is Athrun.
“And I saw his eyes, and I think we’re the same, same eye color.” Arshan looks excited about it.
Lacus just flinch on what she’s saying. “I-is that so, Arshan?”
“Yes. Uhm, can I see him again, Aunt Lacus?”
“Bu-but why you wanted to see him?”
“Because I like him, I think he’s kind and gentle, and good looking too. I think Mommy, will like him too.”
Lacus didn’t know what to do. The child makes a request that is out of bound. Considering she wanted Cagalli to meet Athrun, things will be worst.
“Kira, I saw your missed calls, why? Is something wrong? How’s Arshan?” Cagalli’s worried voice echoed.
“Don’t worry Cagalli, she’s okay, she’s safe. The thing is,” Kira cut of his sentence.
“What, what is it?” You can hear her nervous voice.
“While we are at the docking area at PLANTs, Arshan accidentally bumped into someone.”
“What? Is she okay, is there any injuries,”
“She’s okay. No one’s hurt.” Kira automatically cut her off.
“Thank God,”
“As I said earlier, Arshan bumped into someone, and it turns out to be Athrun.”
Long pause. . .
“What?!” Cagalli only said.
“Cagalli, please don’t freak out, it’s was an accident.” Kira try to calm her down.
However, Cagalli’s hold to her cellphone tightens, she start to annoyingly brush her hair thru her hands, out of frustrations.
“Did he saw her? What happened to them?” Cagalli asked her almost shouting at him.
“They talk a little, I’m going to claim her as my daughter, but suddenly Arshan calls Lacus as aunt. We can’t do a thing, so we said she was your daughter. I’m sorry, Cagalli.” Kira said apologetically.
Cagalli just remain silent for a while, “I-it’s okay Kira, you didn’t know in the first place that he’s there.” Cagalli didn’t want to be angry to her twin brother, instead she chooses to remain calm for now. Maybe it was the time for him to know about their daughter.
“I’m going to get on the plane as soon as I can tomorrow.” Cagalli said before she hangs up without saying goodbye.
