Visit Aitutaki and Atiu - The Easy Way
So as most of you probably know by now from our social channels, Tayla and I went to 2 of the outer islands (Aitutaki and Atiu) the other week. While we are glad to be back in Raro where the temperature is slightly less hot than these islands, we definitely wish we were still away exploring more of the activities, dining options, natural environment and people. A swim in that magical Atiu wharf with some of our fish friends or a kayak in that beautiful turquoise Aitutaki lagoon is tempting right about now……….
You may be wondering “how do I get to visit both these islands in the easiest way possible?” Well I’m going to talk about the combo packages on offer which is undoubtedly the easiest way to incorporate both these unique but equally magical islands. Well you can book your 3 domestic flights, accommodation, transfers, etc etc yourself but that’s way too much effort and probably costs a lot more.
With Air Rarotonga they create tailor-made packages for you which includes the domestic flights between Rarotonga, Aitutaki and Atiu, airport transfers and accommodation in Atituaki and Atiu, and continental breakfast in Aitutaki. They can also include Te Vaka Cruise if you wish to do this in Aitutaki as well (We did this and I highly recommend it). View this link for more information https://www.airraro.com/en/tours/aitutaki-atiu-island-combo
Turama Travel Group also have packaged options which are pre-made so you just need to select your accommodation option for Aitutaki – they have options which cover the spectrum of accommodation so you can choose one to suit your budget and desires (such as a villa with a private pool, bungalow overlooking the lagoon, a lodge amongst a tropical garden etc). Their package includes all domestic airfares with Air Raro, airport transfers in Aitutaki and Atiu, 3 nights Accommodation in Aitutaki, The Bishops Lagoon Cruise, 2 Nights at Atiu Villas, and either a Cave Tour OR the Birdman George Island Tour in Atiu. Visit http://aitutaki.com/cook-islands-triangle-experience-aitutaki-atiu/ for their options.
We stayed at Tamanu Beach which has lagoon front and garden rooms, 2 pools and a nice open restaurant that overlooks the water. They also have a lovely island night buffet and show (including a fire dance) every Thursday night. We would recommend it for couples or pairs of friends traveling together as an accommodation option in Aitutaki.
Check back for Tayla’s post next week.
