So this is going around FB tonight. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this all seems highly suspect, not to mention the fact that it implies that if people go out this weekend they will rage and loot and burn. Seriously asking the city of Atlanta to go quiet on Juneteenth weekend? If this is well meaning, it is the FB equivalent of the black squares crowding the tags on IG. If it's malicious...
Cops ARE reportedly calling out in higher numbers - possibly in gross solidarity with Rayshard Brooks' murderers. But, shouldn't this then be a golden opportunity to prove they are not needed? Wouldn't it be better for Atlanta to take advantage of their absence by protesting and celebrating Juneteenth without fear? Peaceful, but loud and joyous; streets absent of cops, but ringing with calls for justice to be served?
Anyway... just my very late night thoughts and concerns. And I am open to correction if I'm out of line.
