Who knew we’d have to revisit the family rules on clones...
For the third time.

“What’s that? No service out here —–” It’s best not to think too much into it.
Not like the Others
As busy as the ships were, there were many sparse areas that had few people beyond some drones and quick passers by, who were tied up in their work and had places to be. The little feet took him far and quickly, he was a hustler despite the meandering. He knew he wasn’t supposed to go alone, but... it was okay. He had Dippy with him, so he wasn’t reeeeally alone.
After a while, it wasn’t really all that exciting, many of the hallways looked the same and his certainty that he’d remember his way back had faded, when all the left and rights looked so similar. He was getting more anxious inside until he found himself something of wonder in one room he passed by. He couldn’t believe he almost missed it. Peaking back in, he confirmed. A treasure. A mystery. Something he needed to know more about. With a few glances, he slipped into the darker room. Taking greatly from his father’s habits, even at such a ripe young age, he was very quiet and stayed behind the seats in the small outlook to the stars.
The images that showed on the screens in the room were of the spacescape outside the ship, impressive star fields and solar activity, but nothing compared to the creature that sat on one of the sofas. He peeked up, his glowing yellow-green eyes looking to the being. He let out a small sound of awe and then ducked back down quickly. The pitter patter of his shoes more audible as he quickly moved from one hiding spot to the next, before he peeked up again.
The curious eyes stared at Shiro in all his alien strangeness, the glowing pupil-less eyes of a Galra, but young, wide, filled with wonder and inquiry. Tinted with green, but hallmarked with the faint glow all the same. Ears and the hairline reminiscent of a human, but delicate smooth fur of a Galra, a medium purple hue, thicker fur that looked much like hair adorned his head and was a deeper shade of violet that matched his signature cheek and chin markings, though the small being hid most of his face behind the back of the seats still anyways.
“What are you?” Came the inquiry, a bit quiet, his head tipping back a bit to see over the back of seats, his height fluctuating as it became more of a challenge to stay on his tip toes. A delicate small hand with dark clawed fingernails coming up to hold the back of the couch for support.

rarely is there quiet time amongst them ; a fight here , a drill there , people in need elsewhere ... so she cherishes the silence in the main room. luckily it seems the others are off on their own , save for shiro. they’ve been sitting in their silence for some time , her on her laptop and him doing ... whatever shiro does. she really doesn’t know much about him. it’s only with the realization that pidge become restless to start conversation.
❛ hey ... shiro ... ❜ she hums awkwardly , eyes lifting from her screen , ❛ how’s it ... um , how’s it going ? ❜
becuase , yes , that’s how you get to know your fearless leader.

it's been a long and tiring day, and everyone needs to get some much deserved rest. before they part ways though, shiro gently wraps an arm over allura's shoulders and using his hand, he draws her head closer. a kiss is pressed lightly but affectionately into her hair, and then he pulls away with a tired smile. "good work today. sleep well, okay? and say hi to the mice for me." ( @atlaslived bc obvs I'm gonna send a smooch for allura 💕 )
muscles were sore and everything ached, and though allura believed a long hot shower was well deserved, she would go out there and train again, harder and longer until her legs gave out. maybe even then she would continue. just because they were on earth did not mean that it was over. . . though allura wished it was. she saw how happy they all were to be back home, and to have to leave it again--- she didn't know that she would have that much strength if she was given the chance to go back to altea. so she had to become stronger, faster, in order to bring them all back home as fast as possible.
she would be out here training all night if there weren't nightly patrols and cadets shooing her off to bed to rest. perhaps she would sneak out for an hour or two ; though she had learned so much as her time as paladin of the blue lion, she felt there was still so much she needed to learn and there was such little time left to do it. she waved good night to the others, telling them how well they did and what they could work on tomorrow, stopping briefly to gather up her belongings.
a soft sigh left her as she pushed loose strands of hair off of her forehead. what she should do was check up on coran and romelle and make sure they were doing alright, and in the morning she could speak to the holts and sit with shiro to see if there had been any news. so lost in her thoughts and plans, allura tensed under the touch to her shoulder, not having expected it. had he not spoken, she might have flipped him over her shoulder.
allura was glad she had not done so.
"shiro, is something—-?" her question faltered when she felt the light kiss to the top of her head, expression softening as his words followed. her smile was just as soft, brows pulled together just the slightest. it was such a sweet gesture, one she wouldn't have expected, if she were being honest ( especially not after a day of training ), but a gesture she would cherish nonetheless. it had. . . been quite some time since anyone had done something like this. it reminded her of her father, of how he would have taken her in his arms and kissed the top of her head --- her eyes stung with the promise of tears, but she blinked them away, along with fighting off the urge to hug shiro ( if the urge was still present when she got near her room, she could always look for coran ! ).
"thank you, shiro. it. . . really means a lot. we all did amazing today," she reflected, nodding as she added, "and i will -- but don't be surprised if you find a few extra bedmates in the morning. they're quite fond of you." she laughed softly, reaching out for his hand before he could turn away.
"-----and you get some rest, too, okay? i. . . know a lot has happened and changed, but you aren't in this alone. we're still a team, shiro. nothing will ever change that. you're one of the strongest people i know," she said, "and i don't say that about a lot of people, shiro. you have endured so much more than anyone else could have, and you're still standing. never forget that." she leaned up, standing on her toes so that she could press a gentle kiss to his forehead. pulling back, she gave his hand a reassuring squeeze before she released it, smile warm.
"you're still a vital part of voltron, whether you believe it or not, and nothing can change that. so, please, for your friends, get some rest. or else coran will try to give you some of that strange concoction he made the other day. it knocked lance right out with just a sniff."

‘’Hey, Shiro?’’ He averted his eyes, looking towards the floor. ‘’Can I ask you something?’’ He asked. Keith was aware that the answer to that was going to be yes, but he still waited for him to give him permission. It gave him a little more time before asking that question he dreaded so much...
‘ we have a lot to talk about, though. ’ (I'm getting my revenge for all the prompts u sent fite me)
THEY SAY “REVENGE” LIKE THIS WASN’T THE PLAN ALL ALONG.MEME. MEME TAG. INBOX. ALWAYS ACCEPTING! @atlaslived
“… yeah.”
it’s puffed out a sigh, shoulders tense at either side of matt’s ears— hands digging tense into the edge of the couch, unwittingly so, and he has to will those knuckle-white fingers to relax.
I missed you’s and I’m glad you’re okay’s had been the words they’d traded when shiro first pulled him into a crushing hug at the foot of the castle of lions. the sentiments were simple, easy to understand things: this is important to me. this was gone from my life. I’m happy it’s returned. when he and shiro found time alone, they had just stared at one another and laughed in that way that comes out a sob, because somewhere through the shared disbelief of we’re alive. buried somewhere in those two words were an implication that neither of them could face at the time: we’re alive means I thought we might die means I thought you might be dead.
and that implication had dug under matt’s skin, because the euphoria of reunion can only last forever. there’s a two year gap between when shiro had broken his leg and saved his life, and the moment where matt sighs resignation and forces his fingers to not tear into the cushions under his hands.
he extends a leg out, rolling it back and forth on the heel. it doesn’t ache anymore. feels better than his real one, actually. in hundreds of years, when the oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sulfur, sodium, chlorine, and magnesium that make up over 99% of his body have been broken down, transformed, synthesized, reused, and repurposed, the tritanium joint is going to be the only part of matt left that resembles matt. the rest will be stardust.
he looks over to shiro, who follows matt’s gaze down to his slowly pivoting leg, and wonders if he’s relived that night as many times as matt has.
somehow, he knows the answer is yes.
“so... lions, huh?”
