My entry for the #avatarsng #аватарснг #atlasng flashmob. I think few people outside of Russian speaking parts of the internet have heard of this drama, but basically Qantar, a Kazakh artist, drew a fanart for the show Avatar the Last Airbender and then in a perfect example of cultural imperialism got accused of being a coloniser and a bunch of horrible things by American internet users who probably can’t even find Kazakhstan on the map 😓 To support her, the three aforementioned hashtags on Twitter were launched in post soviet space. The goal is to basically visually remake and reimagine a western show with peoples living in the CIS area. As artist we are focusing on the diversity of our cultures that get ignored by the west in favour of portraying us as various flavours of Russia lite™️. As my entry in the flash mob I drew one of my ocs in a traditional Jewish kaftn, as an #airbender . Там, где я живу, много лесов, болот, старообрядцев и деревень под названием Содомово. Слово «Содом» в названии ряда населённых пунктов Заволжья (региона) закрепилось из-за религиозных противоречий официальной церкви с первыми жителями (зачастую староверами, которых обвиняли в «язычестве»). 

Цитата из книги Мельникова-Печерского «В лесах»:

Тамошний люд жил как отрезанный от остального крещеного мира. Церквей там вовсе почти не было, и русские люди своими дикими обычаями сходствовали с соседними звероловами, черемисой и вотяками; только языком и отличались от них. A wonderful flashmob is taking place on Twitter: artists paint the peoples of the CIS as magicians from the Avatar. I couldn't pass by and painted beautiful people who lives in my region - the Komi-Permyaks. I know that many people associate territory of the Urals with the mistress of the Copper Mountain and with the magic of the earth, but for me it’s mostly forests, rivers, swamps, rains and fogs, so my Perm komi girl became a water magician.

There’s flashmob on twitter about drawing people from The Commonwealth of Independent States (which is SNG in Russian) as ATLA benders. This is my 5 cents on kamchadals. :>
