I had a random thought about chapter 1 of That Time I Got Kidnapped By A Fairy King And Accidentally Fell In Love if Dream found Sweetpea first. How do you think that first interaction would've gone if it was Dream instead of Nightmare?
Hope you're doing well!

Sorry it's taken so long to get to this ask! As I mentioned in a previous post, I've been taking a little break. When I saw this in my inbox, I was so excited to answer it and then I realized that I didn't know what would happen. So I've been wracking my brains trying to come up with the answer, and I hope that it's up to standard ^^
EDIT: THIS GOT AWAY FROM ME ;_;
If Dream found Sweetpea first, then things would be very different. Like Nightmare, Dream would be able to tell what kind of emotions she would be feeling due to her heartbreak. This is where things would deviate.
See, Nightmare listened to Sweetpea, understood her and gave her a choice on whether to go with him. Just a little vacation to soothe her broken heart. Dream would do no such thing.
Dream would use his magic to manipulate Sweetpea's emotions to make her feel better and tell her that only he could make the pain go away, which isn't exactly a lie. With how much pain she would be in, it would be only too easy for Dream to coax Sweetpea into going with him to the Summer Court.
He would keep her close, using his magic to keep her happy and entranced. Whenever she asks about going home, Dream uses his magic to remind her that only he can make her feel happy again. So she stays.
Before anyone's realized, months have gone by. Sweetpea has already started her transformation into a Fae and her memory has started to fade. Her name isn't Sweetpea. Her name is Navrée. Some of the Fae disapprove of the name, but don't dare say anything. It's not like she can understand it. She doesn't know that it means "heartbroken", a permanent reminder of how she came to live in the Summer Court.
Of course, eventually Navrée is told by one of the braver Fae of the court. And when she confronts Dream, he tells her the truth. The memories of the night she met Dream come rushing back to her, in part due to the Fae blood already running through her veins. She can't remember everything, but she remembers enough. It devastates her.
Within minutes, guards are running towards where Dream and Navrée went to talk, drawn by the Summer King's screams. When they arrive, Dream is clutching Navrée's body close, trying to stop her soul from breaking. He never wanted this to happen. He wanted to make her better! He wanted her to get better!
When Navrée's soul breaks. Her wings wither and leave glimmering dust coating Dream's arms. Her body disintegrates.
All that's left in its place is a single bleeding heart flower.
If the characters in ttigkbafkaafil had pets what would they be? (The pets can be from anywhere)
-AtlasOrSomething/Magpieonabranch
This is a great ask. Of course, there will be more characters showing up eventually. For now, I'm just going to do Sweetpea, Nightmare, Horror, Neve, Killer, Enya and Avis.
Sweetpea has always been good with animals. She's already shown to have a natural talent for taming Thistle, the previously untameable bumblebee. Thistle is her main pet (but maybe in the future there will be more). He's fluffy and cuddly, which is just what Sweetpea needs when she starts to feel low. Sometimes, she'll just want to be alone with her thoughts. Thistle is quite happy to curl up on her lap while she sorts through things, and she usually finds she can think much clearer in the end.
Nightmare is the King of the Winter Court, and being the king doesn't allow him much time to handle a pet. He has Glaurung, the dragon. But Nightmare sees him more as a friend than a pet. If Nightmare was to have a pet, it would probably be a snowy owl. Able to blend in with the environment of the Winter Court while also being able to see everything from the trees. Perfect for keeping an eye on things.
Horror is a bit of a tricky one. Not because he wouldn't have a pet. It's just he's so used to being alone that it would be hard for him to pick out a pet. When/if he's finally convinced to find a pet, Horror's first thought is to find something that will be either easy to take care of, or something that will be pretty independent. It makes sense to everyone else as well. But when it comes down to it, Horror isn't able to find a pet fitting that criteria. Well, not one that he feels a connection with. It's while he's out hunting for food to bring back to the court that he finds something. A wolf pup, half starved. He brings it back to the court and nurses it back to health. It's not long before the little wolf becomes like Horror's shadow, except with boundless energy that reminds him far too much of someone he used to know...
Neve isn't usually one for keeping pets, due to being a healer. She has to keep everything as clean as possible for when she works with patients. But in her downtime, when she goes back to her nest, she does have a secret little friend. A little dormouse that sleeps in a little hollow in the wall next to her pillow. On the colder nights when there's a harsh blizzard outside, Neve will curl up under the blankets of her nest. The dormouse with scurry into the blankets, letting out a little squeak before curling into a little furry ball in the crook of her neck. The whiskers tickle her chin, but it helps to offer Neve some comfort. Especially when the nightmares surface.
Killer is by far the easiest to find a pet for. His first thought is a cat. They seem to have the same energy as him, which suits Killer just fine. And then he sees an animal from the Summer Court and if his eyelights could be seen, then they would be wide and bright with sheer glee. Naturally, Killer wants it. The chaos from just that one animal was pure perfection. And if that was what it was doing on its own to the Fae of the Summer Court, then imagine how much it could do if actively encouraged? Yes, Killer wants the monkey with bright orange fur. And once he's trained it, he's going to cackle with delight just watching it throw its own shit at the stuck up Fae of the Summer Court.
Enya is another tricky one. It was always clear from the start that she just didn't have a natural affinity for animals. She was always better with plants, mainly growing flowers. If she'd had the chance to turn into a Fae, then her magic probably would've landed in that area, which would've put her in charge of the gardens. And if she'd had the chance to turn, then she would've been able to visit the Summer Court, possibly during a gala or to do some kind of trade. And while there, she would've seen the hummingbirds and fallen in love. Their bright colours remind her of the flowers she loves so much, and they're hummingbirds are so gentle with her. It's no surprise when one follows her back to the Winter Court and becomes her own little helper with the flowers.
Avis is by far the easiest. Having robin wings, it only makes sense that he has his own little swarm of robins as pets. He had at least ten and adored them all. He could often be seen in the gardens, keeping Enya company and sitting on one of the garden benches, his hands filled with birdseed while his beloved robins swarmed him, perching on his head, horns, shoulders and anywhere else just to get some food. He would sometimes ask one of the robins to send a message to one of his relatives. When the Winter Solstice came along, Avis would practice with his robins, directing them to sing joyful songs that all of the Fae could join in with before starting their party. Of course, that was before things went wrong. Due to the robins not being a part of Avis' magic, they would've been left behind when he died. But before he passed, Avis sent a magic signal to the robins. When they'd gathered at his bedside, he asked them one last thing. To watch over Enya and their baby for however long they may live.
Out of curiosity, what insect would Horus be based on if he was not bird based?
Hope you're doing well!

Hi! I'm doing good. Hope you're okay too <3
I'm answering this ask after trying MULTIPLE times to answer it on my phone and for some reason Tumblr wouldn't let me.
Horus is still a Fae and even though he's a good one, he's still into his looks and pretty vain (and I mean that in the best possible way). I feel like he would have the wings of a butterfly because of this.
Switch the yellow with the blue and vice versa and you've got Horus with butterfly wings.
No clue if this will make sense but what types of birds would everyone in ttigkbafkaafil be based on their personalities? I feel like Ink would be a crow or a magpie.
Hope you're doing well!
-Atlasorsomething/Magpieonabranch
Thanks for the ask! Sorry this has taken so long. I've had to give it a lot of thought ^^;
Sweetpea would be a chickadee. These adorable, small birds are known for their curious and friendly nature, and enjoy exploring new environments. I think that sums up Sweetpea perfectly, wouldn't you say?
Nightmare would be an owl. As well as being rather regal in my opinion, owls are fiercely protective over their families. They'll aggressively defend their nests from potential threats. Something that we all know Nightmare would do.
Neve would be a bullfinch. Often described as shy and secretive, I think a bullfinch would fit Neve because she is rather shy. That, and her little nest is in a secret place, and bullfinches hide their nests among thorns. I imagine it's to help stay safe. Something that Neve does too.
Horror is known for being the cook of the Winter Court, so of course, he has to be a bird of prey. I decided to go with the peregrine falcon, as it's said to be one of the best hunters. As well as this, they are fiercely protective and will often go to great lengths to defend their young, even taking on enemies larger than them. And I think we all know just how far Horror will go to defend Sweetpea.
Killer would be a satin bowerbird. Male satin bowerbirds are known for being collectors and hoarders, mainly collecting blue items to decorate their bower in order to impress a potential mate. These items can be anything from blue feathers, to clothes pegs and bottle caps. Although I don't think Killer would be interested in a mate (or just blue items), he does have a tendency to collect/steal things and keep them in his pouch. Mainly so he can show them off later on.
Enya is easy. She's a hummingbird. Like mentioned in a previous ask, she's most at home among plants and flowers. If she'd had a chance to turn then she would've had a pet hummingbird too. So it's not hard to say that she would've been one. Hummingbirds love drinking nectar from flowers. The females have duller colours to help stay disguised among the plants, and can be aggressive if something gets too close to their babies, even taking on humans. As well as this, female hummingbirds have to do the nesting alone, something which Enya had to do while in the mortal realm.
Avis is another easy one. He's a robin. Robins may seem cute, but they can be rather territorial and will defend its domain. Something that Avis would do, with having draconic blood in his veins making him hot headed if need be. Robins are also incredibly curious birds, and will often follow you along on a walk. Sweetpea had to get her curiosity from somewhere!
Dream is a cockatoo. They can be highly social and affectionate, but demand a lot of attention. And if bored, can resort to plucking their own feathers. Something which I think suits Dream's personality perfectly. However, they do learn new skills through social interaction, which I think would greatly benefit Dream. Cockatoos are also late risers, and will wait until the sun has warmed their roosting site before feeding. I can imagine Dream doing something similiar, except forcing everyone to wait until he was ready.
Blue would be a western bluebird. Besides the beautiful colour of the feathers which would match Blue's magic perfectly, they're highly social birds. And we all know how much Blue loves to have friends. On top of that, in Iroquois cosmology, the call of the bluebird was said to ward off the icy power of Sawiskera (Flint, the spirit of Winter). Maybe there's a deeper reason as to why Dream made Blue his personal guard...
Ink is definitely a magpie. Magpies are intelligent and often like collecting shiny things (more out of curiosity than anything), but it's what gave them the reputation of being thieves. They're so clever that they even like to play games. Because of these traits, it's known to be quite mischievous, and we all know that Ink loves mischief. However, even with all the stories about bad luck surrounding magpies, in some places, the magpie is seen as a messenger from the creator. And Ink is someone who loves to create. Do with that what you will.
What is your favorite cat color/pattern if you have one? My favs are charcoal tabbies, ticked tabbies, and tuxedos.
Hope you have a good day/night!
-Atlasorsomething/Magpieonabranch
I think my favourites are black cats and calico cats. I think Ragdoll cats are cute too. If I ever got a cat, I'd want to get a Ragdoll or a black cat.
Thank you for the ask! Hope you have a good day/night too! <3
What would be the chosen craft for each ttigkbafkaafil character? (Crochet, sewing, painting, bracelet making, etc.)
-Atlasorsomething/Magpieonabranch
What a fun ask this is. Thanks for sending it in! <3
Sweetpea's chosen craft comes to her much later in the story and only after trying so many other things to keep her mind occupied. The others help her try different things, suggesting their own hobbies and crafts for her to try. She gains interest in a few things, but nothing seems to stick. It's only when she has a dream one night, a dream that is actually a very distant memory of pressing flowers into a scrapbook. That's when she gets the idea of pressing flowers and preserving them into crystals to create necklaces. Sweetpea is remarkably good at it, like it's second nature. And the pendants are steeped in comforting intent. It's not long before she makes a name for herself.
Nightmare may be the King of the Winter Court, but when no one is looking and when all issues of the court have been solved, he likes to get his supplies together and bind books. He sews the covers to the manuscripts by hand himself. Nightmare illustrates every single book, making sure to include the tiniest of details. The books he binds usually end up in the library or one of the guest rooms. It helps to keep his mind off of the pain in his original wings.
Horror is an easy one. When he's not cooking for the court or acting as a guard, he likes to carve little wooden sculptures. He'll often carve little enchantments into them somewhere if it's a gift, mainly as protection. He's become quite famous for his little carvings, and Fae will seek him out with a special request. Usually as a present for someone dear to them. Horror is happy to oblige as long as they pay the fee; every customer has to bring him food.
Being a healer, Neve usually spends her time coming up with new techniques to heal different ailments. During busy market days, if she gets the chance to set up a stall, it will be a mini apothecary so that Fae can get some quick healing items. When the day starts to wind down, Neve switches the stall to sell herbal teas. They mostly have relaxation properties. She doesn't have any love potions, no matter how much a Fae may beg.
Killer usually loves stealing. He makes a big show of it. He loves getting away with it. But in the darker parts of the markets, you'll find him deep in concentration. Weaving together bracelets with different coloured threads that shimmer in the light, and adorned with beautiful jewels that glow with enchantments. What kind of enchantment and bracelet you'll get from him, well, you won't know until the right time.
Enya has always been good with growing plants, and if she'd had a chance to turn into a Fae, then come market day, she would sell all kinds of plants and flowers. Herbs to the healers. Magic infused flowers of all colours for the Fae who create the clothes of the Summer Court.
Avis was never one to make a stall for the market days. He would much rather wander around and look for shiny trinkets. But if he absolutely had to, then he would probably be a stood on a podium with his pet robins. He and his robins would be making music to help keep the atmosphere of the market laid back and amiable while the Fae from the different courts mingle. Occasionally, one of the Fae might toss him a gem or trinket. He'd hoard and save them so he could trade them for a present for Enya.
Dream is often very busy. He doesn't like leaving responsibility to anyone, he doesn't want to burden anyone. But he hears plenty of stories from his ambassadors and the merchants that travel to different places in the Fae realm. And he loved the stories. So much so that he decided that he wanted to write his own stories. Not only that, but he wanted to document the things he's seen. So in the evenings, while he has a glass of fairy wine, Dream writes. He writes stories of when the Fae realm was still young, writes about the creatures he's seen and encountered. Most importantly, he writes the stories of different Fae he's met over the years. Not every Fae though. Only the ones he's deemed interesting.
Blue has a massive sweet tooth and his craft reflects that. It's not often that he gets time off, being Dream's personal guard. The few times that he gets a day off, he spends time with the bumblebees of the Summer Court. He volunteers to help collect the honey and gets to help sell it. It reminds him of his brother... Besides that, Blue likes to make a lot of jams and marmalades. He'll go fruit picking and make the jams from scratch. It's a special treat for the Winter Court Fae, so they're usually the ones who go wild for it.
Most would think that Ink spends all of his free time painting. He does spend a lot of time painting, but he's constantly looking for something new to do. Every market day will find him practicing some new craft. Sculpting beautiful statues out of marble and giant crystals. Dancing. One time, he even decided to knit. One thing that he keeps coming back to is embroidery. It fascinates him how he can make something like a painting which won't get ruined in the rains of the Spring Court. He often embroiders intricate designs on the clothes of the Summer Court. Fae will pay their weight in gold to have a piece of Ink's embroidery as part of their wardrobe.
Do you have a favorite insect? Asking for art practice reasons.
Also here's a photo of a past foster cat. I hope you have a great day/night!

I have three favourite insects! I love butterflies/moths, bumblebees and ladybirds. But ultimately, I'll have to say butterflies 🦋
Kitty! What a cutie pie! Fun fact! One of the neighbourhood cats looks just like this and seems to have adopted our family. Every now and then, he'll come to the garden and I'll give him a little bit of water or some tuna. My mum has decided to name him Jimmy Unknown after the stray cat my Grannanny once fed XD
