Presentation:
Horus Lupercal is a major antagonist from Warhammer 40,000 franchise. He is one of the 20 Primarchs and the master of the XVIth Space Marine Legion. He is also powerful warlord.
His Villainy's journey:
Horus was one of the 20 Primarchs, a group of clones/templates created by the Emperor of Mankind. Like the other Primarchs, he was created to serve the Emperor and the Imperium of Man. And each Primarch commanded a Legion of Space Marines who were their cloned sons too (so a Primarchs' clone army). Horus led the Luna Wolves (duplicate sons). During the Great Crusade, he fighted against the enemies of the Imperium. And he proven himself as a great war strategist and honorable leader on the interstellar warfront that the Emperor designated him as Warmaster. Meanwhile, Horus was hurt by an attack from Nurgle (one of the four Chaos Gods) during the battle of Davin. He was later healed by inhabitants of the mentioned moon. But, during his recovery, he received the mark of Chaos form the Davin priests and he turned corrupted by darkness. A corrupted Erebus (disguised as Hastur Sejanus) and a Chaos cult manipulated the warmaster by making him believing that the Emperor used him and the Primarchs as pawns. From this moment, he joined the Chaos and plotted to overthrow the Emperor of Mankind and to rule over the Imperium in replacement of the latter.
His biggest crimes:
Before his corruption, Horus drove the other Primarchs to compete against each other his own siblings in order of upgrade the Imperium military power.
Once he became corrupted by the Chaos, he incitated his own Legion (Sons of Horus) and invited 8 other Primarchs and their Legions to cause a schism (the Horus Heresy) against the Emperor of Mankind. That drove the Imperium into a galactic civil war. He assaulted and besieged the planet Isstvan III with his new army the Forces of Chaos and he bombarded the planet with bio-weapons making almost of its inhabitants (8 billions of earthlings) being annihiliated in the process. He ambushed 3 loyalist Legions on Isstvan V. The Lord of Chaos finally invaded the planet Terra (the Mankind's homeworld and Imperium capital world) on where he killed his brother Sanguinius and later fought against the Emperor his own creator in a death battle. In the end, the Emperor won this duel by killing Horus the Arch-Traitor meanwhile the victory had a price: the benefactor of humanity was fatally wounded and he was forced to be confined to the Golden Throne to put him in suspended animation to prevent the Imperium's collapse.
The reaction(s):
-Palpatine: "When I see his story, I believe to see the Darth Vader's. Or it looks like Maul was leading the Rebel Alliance."
-Frieza: "He is really interesting. I believed he can take control of the entire galaxy."
-Magneto: "This universe is full of metal to magnetize."
-Dio Brando: "I should conquer this univers by myself."
-Joker: "So chaotic. 😁"
-Sauron: "So classic. 😩"
-Doctor Doom: "But his ambitions are nothing compared to mine."
-Doctor Eggman: "About Chaos, he could seek Chaos Emeralds."
-Horus: "So, let the Villains Contest burn."
-The Jury members: "😲🙄😨😬🤨😠"
I’ve been exploring different mythologies through minimalist artworks of gods. This piece is inspired by Horus, the Egyptian god associated with the sky.
What's the strongest argument you've encountered either for or against the Horus–Jesus theory?
Feel free to share your favorite myth, detail, quote, or lesser-known fact about Horus in the comments!
