I'm just glad organisations worth multi-billion dollars are backing the right guy. My guy.

thank goodness this is one of the online sessions omg i have been moved
I’ve been doing work experience at Atlassian since Monday and it’s been awesome so far! I’m on the automation team (i.e the IFTT-esque automation system that’s usable in Jira, Confluence etc) for the week.
Monday was mostly getting my computer and dev environment set up, but I learned heaps about company processes and standards along the way. I also attended the team’s daily standup which is an interesting tradition at software companies, it seems to be helpful in making sure everyone’s on the same page at the start(ish) of each day. The view is amazing and I can (almost sorta) see my school from where I sit which is pretty cool. Lunch was diy sandwiches with every possible ingredient under the sun, courtesy of the free cafeteria (!!!)
I was there essentially 9-5 which I’m gonna be honest I’m entirely unfamiliar with but it actually flies by doing interesting things (cough. school)
welp
Atlassian (Trello) is going to be terminating my account which is less than ideal as it is my main repository for a lot of personal notes, ttrpg boards, closed species masterlists, as well as commissions and tracking of such.
Which means fuck me and whoever else is using those tools...
I really don't know what to do tbh, I'm so shaken still of how all this impacted my life. Still picking up the pieces and trying to stabilize, but each day/week/month one more thing just disappears or erases me.
A hacking crew called SiegedSec posted data on what appears to be thousands of employees and floor plans for two of the company's offices.
"The company later told TechCrunch that its internal review revealed that the data was accessed from the Envoy app “using an Atlassian employee’s credentials that had been mistakenly posted in a public repository by the employee.”. "
Might I make a suggestion than just complain - assuming someone in Atlassian reads this - much like I am able to highlight some text and make it 'code like' by using a formatting context of 'code' (i.e. ctr;-sfht-M) would it not be beyond the ken of development to have something similar for emojis, so that those people that do find it necessary to insert smiley faces, thumbs-up and poo icons in their technical documentation can do so while the rest of us who as someone else in a previous thread has said, use the software in a 'professional' capacity can get on with our lives.
